Hi, maybe some1 could help me.
I tried to play a mission of the campaign Legacy of the Confederation Episode I: Past Purposes but I didn´t see a way to finish it sucsessfully.
Maybe some of you guys already played it and can help me out.
In this mission you got to defend yourself from a massive Zerg attack. After about 15 min you became a message that you got to find and "Capture" an outpost and that you should NOT destroy these 2 comsat stations you find there. But I destroyed anything else in this outpost and i can´t find a way to capture this comsat stations. My units simply destroy them if I try.
I didn´t see any suv´s or something like that so i got no idea what to do. Should be about the 6th or 7th mission of the campaign. Ty for help if anyone could...

I don't recall what mission, specifically, but there is one mission where you, no matter what, receive a Defeat, but the story actually continues to the next map. Not sure if this is it or not.

It's the defense of Geneva. No matter if you manage or not to capture the ComSat station, the LOTC storyline decrees the battle of Geneva must be lost for UPL to fall, the Protoss to come and ConFed to rise much later. You can't actually capture the outpost.
Or maybe it's the next mission, in which you gotta bring the civs to each of the ComSats.

you don't have any command centres of your own do you?
float them over to the comsats and land them next to the addon?

Sounds like Geneva to me, it's meant to be lost.

Yeah, I'm agree. It is assumed that the Battle of Geneva has to end in defeat for the UPL. If the UPL had winned, the Protoss wouldn't have arrived to the Earth, and the Confederation probably wouldn't exist.

Also I can't beat the space defense mission. (mission 3 or 4 i think) The Protoss leave and then the Zerg continuously spawn until I am defeated. Does anyone know how to beat this?
Anyways, I think this is mission 6. Geneva is mission 5. This is the mission where you are surrounded by Zerg forces, on a 96x96 map, and you have a base in the center. Am I correct? I'm not sure what to do though. I got to that part and accidentally destroyed one of the ComSats. Maybe you can't win?

Read all the other posts. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to lose and the story continues anyway.

Yes, you are suppose to lose that map, so just let your forces get killed and you can advance.

Hold on, are you saying the map you are stuck on is 96x96? If so, that's the one with 4 entrances to your base and there are comsat stations around there. Your not supposed to do anything with them untill your prompted though. Something with engineers.

So, why do you give that branch anyway? Now that you can't complete it, and it doesn't change the story line.

cool bump
the point of it all is to show just how overwhelmed they are by the zerg, though yeah it does make things a bit unclear to the user
when the mission ends as a "defeat" it still moves on to the next mission in the storyline anyway; it'd look a bit weird to be all "oh noes we're getting annihilated" but then due to SC1's limitations show a pop-up that says "VICTORY!"
