GGmap project

Galaxy Gladiators (or briefly - GG) is a new mapmaking project, which will be created on the basis
of the upcoming computer game Starcraft 2 and its new map editor.
The main features of the project:
1. The purpose is to create a leader among Starcraft 2 UMS maps with a large gaming community, that
will grow into a new branch of cybersport. In the same time it will lead to birth of Starcraft 2
mapmaking community, i.e. there will be our own articles, utilities etc.
2. Genre is based on AoS/Arena genre with many unique ideas.
3. We gather the team of experienced, talented and reliable mapmakers and modmakers all around the
world, united with the idea of creation without borders in co-operation with professionals, who
share your hobby.
4. The map itself will be multilingual, i.e. besides English, several other languages will be
included in the same file. Its list depends on you, people who will join the project.
A player will be able to choose his/her native language before each game. This site and forum will
also become multilingual as soon as we release the first version of GG, so people all around the
world can have the place to get all the information, news about the map and competitions and enter
the community in different languages.
5. GG WON'T be "just another DotA clone". We'll borrow only this features:
a) Gameplay, based on team interaction, i.e. a typical match will have the format "Team vs
Team". But it doesn't rule out the possibility of a third faction, controlled by AI, which will be
hostile or friendly to both teams.
b) The principle "Easy to start - hard to become a pro", that is the basis of all Blizzard
games. Certain game modes will focus on casual gamers, other - on hardcore ones.
c) Every player will control one (or almost one) unit.
d) Close interaction of developers and gamers, that means long-term support and new
versions.
And that's all! The rest of features will be unique:
a) Sci-fi dictates its own laws, so even if the map seems familiar to an ex-Warcraft player
at first, this feeling will vanish in 10 minutes. The idea of "DotA in SC2" was discussed at many
forums, and the main conclusion is that there must be a new AoS with new gameplay, but not less
interesting and replayable as DotA is.
b) The project will have its own setting (universe) and pre-history, all descriptions of
characters, weapons and vehicles will be interconnected creating unique atmosphere.
c) The gameplay will be very dynamic, a typical match will last about 20 minutes. And
superiority of a team won't necessarily be gained step-by-step, the initiative can easily switch
between teams. That is the difference between Warcraft 3 and Starcraft.
6. There is a lot of time until Starcraft 2 release, why do you start so early?
IMHO Starcraft 2 will be released in the end of 2008. Anyway there's a lot of work that can be done
without the ScumEdit:
a) Gather the team.
b) Discussing the principles of gameplay -> creating concepts of characters and weapons ->
implementation in concrete names and digits.
c) 3D modelling.
d) Pictures and textures for the map and website.
e) Creating the Universe and descriptions, translation to different languages.
7. Nowadays it's impossible to create a world-known map alone. Only a professional team can succeed in that, and I guarantee that everyone of you will be rewarded (I mean not only the credits ).
8. I realize, that we'll have many competitors. But due to the fact that we start so early, we have
the real chance to get "best of the best" (i.e. YOU) in our team. You'll have the ability to finish
your current projects and GG won't consume much of your time.
Also not every competitor will have a good website and create a map in several languages. So, we
have very bright perspectives to success. Join!
