I don't really see how there's any shame involve considering,
A.) They're more than likely getting paid for it.
B.) Huge market, their name is getting out more.
C.) Enormous player demand for it.

ummm. this is not the first time sonic has appeared in a nintendo game....
if I recall, he appeared in a super nintendo entertainment system (SNES) game called sonic.
the game was both a commercial and a technical disaster. which is why no one has heard of it before.
I can't link you to the info on the game because the site has ROMS, so you'll just have to believe me.
