[Campaign]New Armania (Cancelled)

by Church
Journey to the Zerg infested New Armania and meet Allison Lespier and Tristan Doutt, and watch as they push themselves and others to the very limit to protect their war torn planet. Friends become enemies, and enemies become friends... this has become a world where knowing is more than half the battle.
_____________________________________________
New Armania has been cancelled.

SERGEANT ALLISON LESPIER
Feisty girl. She has a good temper, but she can get rather annoyed at times. Tries her best with everything.
MASTER SERGEANT TRISTAN DOUTT

Intelligent, problem solver. Doutt has been in the military long enough to know when he's fighting a battle he can't win. Always comes with a plan and wins even when he loses.

ADMIRAL KIETH PUTZER
Putzer is the 'boss'. He does his best to stay emotionally detached from the whole situation, but he can't help feeling a bit of pleasure with each victory, no matter how small.
JOHN KUBERT

Sly scientist. Edges around everything and tries to keep others out of his way- nobody likes him.

LOYD HULTMAN
Helpful guy, speaks like the Doctor (David Tennant). Friendly. Experiments with Zerg and tries to find their weaknesses.

I must listen to whatever sound clips are done for Loyd Hultman!
Also, this looks very well done. How far along are you?

Haha, it's probably not gonna be voice acted (so far, I haven't decided). Thanks for the interest man C:
I'm about 75% done, so you should expect it soon! Any screenshots/videos you'd like to request?

Hmm was this previously Gas 2 or a completely separate project? Looks like you've been busy!

It's a completely seperate project. Either way this is most certainly going to be released long before Gas 2, so hopefully this could be some sort of tide me over!

Like I said in MSN, I'm interested in doing voice acting for this. After I look over your scripts and proofread them, I'll see about some voice demos of each character, including Allison.

Alright, so I tested out the first mission, and here's what I have to say:
-The briefing is very rough and sudden.
-When players receive transmissions from Marines or Ghosts, they often receive them from the Red units instead of their own units - case in point, the "Zerg! Comin' our way!" transmission.
-There aren't NEARLY enough defenses for the Hives. You can practically walk through the mission, and while it is the first mission, the only Hive that has a remotely difficult array of defenses is the last one. I'd recommend adding a few triggers to spawn reinforcements once each Hive is destroyed (Mutalisks or the like), as well as add in more Sunkens. If the player is smart enough, Medics nullify the Sunkens fairly easily.
-Upon realising that I had but three minutes to finish off the last Hive (you know what I mean), I was like, "what" because it was way too short. Then, as I was about to destroy the Hive, the timer ran out and lo and behold, all that happened was what you triggered - enemies began flying at me. Well, that's cool and all, but it's not really that tense and once the player realises that the timer running out doesn't mean an instant game over, he or she can really just say "eh whatever" and chill out. The enemies spawn -literally- across the map.
I sent you a PM with a download link to a version of the map I edited to fix some of the bugs that I mentioned. I explained exactly what I did and what suggestions I have yet to implement, leaving for you to decide whether or not it matters enough to be changed.
Cheers,
Pr0nogo.

Thanks man!
I've taken into consideration everything you've posted, and I"ll be sure to try to improve the map with them.
However, for your later mini-reviews, could you PM them to me instead? The first map is not really a problem, but as the maps haven't really been released yet, I wouldn't want anything spoiled

Yeah dude, I'll PM them to you when I get through the next four missions or so.
EDIT: Also, it might appear that I had nothing positive to say about the map, but I did. I just didn't say it. It was more of a bug-test-report thing. I'll go more in-depth when it comes to reviewing actual content later.

Any updates? I know you were nearly finished with the new version of the first mission. Whenever you draw up scripts for the last two missions, you can PM them to me or message me the links over MSN.

Judging by map 5's minimap, looks like you're putting a helluva lot of work into that one. Glad to see it.
It would be nice if you could PM/Message me the download links to the mod and maps 2-4, seeing as how I'm on a different computer at the moment.
Also, lol Kyle.

Looking at the screenies the terrain seems kinda "naked"... maybe you should add a few more doodads if you have the time Jim.
Keep working, I have a good feeling about this.

I do believe most of the maps are still in development. I'm sort of helping him out with various ideas and whatnot, too, but I'm sure he'll do some terrain edits.
after all he did draw inspiration from cotb >;D
