Editing the Moebius Reactor

Hi, I'm new on this forum but I've been modding starcraft for a while now. Right now I'm trying to create an infested Ghost unit for the Zerg. I know how to make the unit buildable and all that, but I don't know how to make the Moebius Reactor upgrade (Covert Ops) compatible with my new unit. I'm not even sure if thats possible. Anyone can help me?

Also, if the upgrade doesn't work, would it be possible to give to my Ghost 250 mana instead of only 200?

Stuff like energy upgrades are hardcoded in the Starcraft EXE file so are pretty hard to mod

You can edit some stuff related to that with the new program FireGraft (since you've made it buildable I guess you're already using that?), but you're still limited to what you can do. There's still no way to make an upgrade affect a unit that hadn't already been upgradeable; and no way to edit a unit's unupgraded mana amount without affecting all other units' unupgraded mana amount.

The only other way to give it 250 mana is to set it to be a hero but then when you select multiple units it'll have a white outline and stuff like that that you may not want. :(

Does it change anything if I'm using a Ghost hero (Stukov) to create that unit? Since it's a Ghost after all, maybe he could be linked to the upgrade like the regular Ghost. Or, is there a way to create a hero unit without the white outline around it?

dl Stardraft and/or Arsenal 3.i believe they can modify mana/energy.

Actually for upgrades i think  Stargraft would be better.

Could you elaborate a little? I'm already familiar with arsenal and .dat editing and I don't see how I could edit it this way. As for stargraft, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it can do anything more than firegraft.

For starters Stardraft's Arsenal 2 and the standalone Arsenal 3 are out of date since DatEdit can do anything they can do plus more (and has everything more conveniently labeled). None of these programs can edit mana since that data is stored in the actual EXE not in DAT files.

StarGraft is also out of date as it was made for a much older version of Brood War; and the only functionality it has that FireGraft doesn't is assembly stuff which could theoretically be used to edit unit mana but would be extremely complicated.

I had considered that maybe using a ghost hero would affect what upgrades it uses; I doubt it will work but it couldn't hurt to try.

As for heroes without the white outline it's the same setting in the DAT files that gives it the white outline as that gives the hero mana amount, so you'll have to either put up with having the units have a white outline or there's some GRP file you could edit so no heroes have a white outline. :P

I'm already using Stukov for the Infested Ghost and it doesn't link it to the upgrade... I thought maybe there was an option to link the hero to the upgrade of his unit (like if you would want to make a hero with researchable upgrade and tech) but I think this is impossible as well, like the white outline thing.

Anyway, I've been able to do everything else with firegraft and DatEdit... An infested ghost with 200 mana ain't so bad  :P

Thanks for your help Taeradun.

If you make it so the stukov unit isn't classified as a hero unit (in units.dat) It MAY change it so the upgrades that he gets automatically due to being a hero need to be researched

Hi,
Sorry for bumping the thread but I have another question concerning my Infested Ghost. When it's controled by an enemy A.I., the unit is not working at all. I wasn't expecting the enemy to send it attacking without some A.I. editing, but I thought it would at least defend itself when it is attacked (like a normal ghost would do). Unfortunately, the only thing it does is cloaking, without returning fire, and if I disable cloak, all it do is running...

Anyone know why?

Arsenal 3 should have some options to control the default behavior of the unit when attacked (iirc the default for a number of heroes is the same as a non-attacking spell caster).

Yeah, I thought it was something like that but I really can't find anything (in arsenal at least) that differ the behavior of the hero from the normal unit.

Well, I didn't find anything in arsenal 3 so I checked in arsenal 2... Doesn't change the fact that I don't find anything related to my problem in both of them.
