The dark templar are powerful psionic warriors whose forebears were exiled from the protoss homeworld of Aiur over a thousand years ago. The protoss who would eventually become the dark templar were banished for their refusal to join the emerging Khala, the communal mind link shared by all protoss, and the accompanying caste system enforced by the ruling Conclave of the protoss.



The Dark Templar have been added to the Starcraft 2 website.  Click here  for more details on the Dark Templar. A new wallpaper has been added to the Starcraft 2 site as well, titled Nuke.

Electrical effects now present on the death animation of the viking.

I hear you can see an observer in one of the new images.

yup, an observer flies in just as the last few probes are killed in the action shot.

I like it, but I don't at the same time. The concept art doesn't really strike me as traditional dark templar, yet it's insanely cool. I like the scythes.

Observer looks like a cross between a Warp Ray and a squid. Which isn't to say I don't like it though.

It unfolds when it stops moving... could this be related to a mechanic such as longer sight range or detection enabled when stopped?

Cloaked unit distortion looks great.

I agree.

I can't find the observer you guys are talking about. The flash videos only show some terrans getting poked and I can't find it in either of the screenshots.

Did you check the probes getting owned?


Oh and I should say that the first one is Observer in movement, and the second one is a stationary Observer

Right, let's just direct Blizzard to this thread to read your post. Anyway...

I like the way the observers look and they don't really look much like the Warp Rays (stupid name by the way). But I never really liked the Warp Rays to begin with.

I don't see those videos on their site... hmmm...

I never liked the Warp Ray, either.

Warp Ray needs to be more like a dark templar glass cannon type warship.
