It's interesting that the US is briefing certain countries in a preemptive damage mode, which would be a partial consequence of the leaks anyway - openness. I have no problem with our diplomats playing things close to the vest but they've also been largely shielded from any semblance of oversight from any administration, so any kind of revelation would be welcome.

This is why it was in our best interest not to elect a total pussy as our Commander in Chief. I wish I could say that it's beyond me why this jeopardizing asshole hasn't had his face capped by a black ops raid yet, but it's not beyond me at all. Fuck this administration and fuck radical hippies. They've never accomplished anything good, ever. They just create chaotic shit like this.

Actually, it's the other way around. The worst Bush did to combat leaks (or fair whistleblowing) was to place a federal worker under house arrest for some time while Obama actually had the DoJ arrest and try a NSA agent who leaked spending waste in the agency during the BUSH era.

Aside from removing one trouble-making sack of shit from the Earth, it would set a precedent that discourages others from doing the same thing. It's why we kill spies and throw thugs in jail. Does it stop it outright? No, but it sure as hell makes a difference.
