i have scmdraft but i cant figure out how to place a mineral node directly next to the starting location.  i just recently started playing money maps with a friend but every single one of the maps are pretty much the same.  i was gonna make a 2v2 money map to add some flavor but i cant figure out how to put the mineral node directly next to the CC.  if someone could please help me out i would really appreciate it.  thanks

Alright, this one's pretty simple.

First, after "Logging in" it should display what version it is (Reference to Figure 1). The latest build is 0.8.0. If you're outdated, I recommend you get the latest version at www.stormcoast-fortress.net.

In Figure 1 you'll obviously note that I can't place resources near my players' CC either.

Just go to Options >> Units >> Require Mineral Distance, and uncheck that selection. (Figure 2)

Now you can place your resources anywhere, although the red box still shows up, just disregard it. (Figure 3).

Have fun.

Yeah, I remember when I was a newbie no one really helped me out much, and those that did sort of assumed I already know what they were talking about.

Like some instances on Warboards..

Gah, the curse of money maps. Anyways, if you aren't using it, get StarForge.

But nice step by step like Lavarinth noted, Durandal.
