It's all the rage now, apparently, aside StarCraft 2. Gemini introduced me to this, and it's actually quite entertaining, I'm heavily weighing in towards purchasing it. Obviously that's just a fanmade trailer using Inception's trailer music, but it's actually quite a relaxing fun game.
You can find more info about it, and Java version playable in browser at
www.minecraft.net

Fiddled with the browser version for a little while and it was quite a bit of fun. Missed the free to play weekend by like a day, lol.

Wait, so it's a monetary version of Dwarf Fortress with 1/32 the features and none of the Fun?
I agree with R1.

You must mean R2, because R1, Lav, JJ, and I bought it or will be purchasing it soon.

Actually Isk,if you mean it's more like a dimmed down version of Dungeon Keeper with extreme development happening in a weekly level, yeah!

I haven't really noticed any major developments over the last year. I was playing it alot during the free weekend and unless you like just making random shit that won't serve much use in gameplay there isn't much to do in it which was my initial impression from trying it quite a while ago.
I also really hate the way the water/lava interacts after making large use of it in Dwarf Fortress for my caravan/elf drowning devices

Reading through the old blogs, seems there's quite a few bug fixes almost every week. But considering I just started playing it last night in multiplayer I'm not sure what bugs exist- Aside the fact monsters don't kill you and you take no fall damage. Which led to great spelunking!

@Dread Epic. How'd you get the zombie in the box?
I played with the free version of Minecraft, but I've already got Garry's Mod for doing all kinds of random stuff with. I'm also a bit limited on time and have no means of purchasing it online unfortunately.

I wouldn't exactly call Minecraft similar to Garry's Mod. That's truly a sandbox product while Minecraft is build and survive.
Not bashing on Garry's Mod though, love that thing personally.

We're making a massive glass dome now; however, we can't compete with:
