I think that the zerg 'whale' in the second picture is a Leviathan but... what is that in the first one?

Yeah, it's confirmed, just saw it now, on the SotS site, the second IS a Leviathan. Will remove it (Unless you don't want to) ASAP.

Now, on the first, I really don't know... A possible external view of a Hive command chamber? For cutscene or in-game purpose?

There's always been an obnoxious disconnect between the concept artists and the actual game artists - even if they're the same people. Their inner-office conversations usually go something like this:

Conceptual Artist: "Look how awesome we can draw! *masturbates*"

Game Artist: "I'd look at your drawing if I weren't too bust masterbating to how awesome I can model."

Chris Metzen: *masturbates out of his mouth*

Obviously, the first image is of the Leviathan's uvula.

The large zerg sky whale looks like a Behemoth, their massive transport creature.
