Bugfix patch (and content policy)

A minor patch was put up that optimizes campaign save files and fixes sound on some systems.

I had previously saved a game while a Colossus was attacking, and due to the save changes I now have some permanent beam impact sites. Oops.

Looking through the support section in an attempt to find the exact patch notes I found some worrying stuff: this huge section, and in particular this page. Compare it to the Warcraft III equivalent, the only relevant page I found is very short.
Any content found to be offensive in nature has no place on Battle.net.  Such content can be changed or  removed, and the publisher warned or suspended.
Blizzard reserves the right to change/remove any content we deem inappropriate or that violate policy.
Removing it is one thing, but changing it? Seriously?
In playing this game, you will encounter thousands of other players who share different experiences and come from vastly different backgrounds. While certain actions may not bother you, consider the fact that these same actions may be perceived in a completely different manner by those around you.
Hey, maybe Blizzard can introduce a "background lock" so you can only play with people exactly like you!  :P (though the severe communications limits kind of do that already.)

Edit: Ha ha, the impact sites ended up in the end cutscene.

Recently a Tank Defense map was removed without warning for "inappropriate content". Apparently the problem was that unit wave patterns formed a certain symbol on the minimap that the map author didn't even notice. To make matters worse, they didn't even give a reason for it initially, so everyone thought the issue was with the words "bad ass".

So it begins.

I guess it's a good thing I'd never host a project on battle.net no matter even if the limits were totally removed. I'd be banned before it even finished uploading.

That was damn quick. I expected that Blizzard would be more reasonable or at the least issue map warnings to the author before removing maps.

In my case, if it happens to me, I will be more likely to just plain keep my maps privately and only have it played by FFS players and close friends. Since even if the map is still "inappropriate", I don't expect Blizzard to run after you if it's flagged private out of the public's eyes.

They'll run after you no matter what I imagine. If it's published, it's published. And it's published.

See why this whole system is just a bad idea to begin with? It's fucking retarded. Whatever idiot thought that removing local hosting was a good idea can how have his hand shaken and thanked for killing most custom content.
