Battle.net Update: Upcoming Changes to Forums
So has Blizzard fallen off their community rocker?!
Discuss.
P.s. What would the forums be without anonymous trolls? Lol.

Campaign Creations will soon also adopt this policy by linking to your Facebook accounts, auto-displaying your Facebook profile picture as your avatar and your relative's names and street address.
Just kidding.

This is just insane.
For God's sake, it's the internet. It's SUPPOSED to be anonymous.

I love how this Grimiku guy has been spending his
entire day going through threads and copypasting "Please keep Real ID conversations to one thread" while not posting in the thread he is linking to. Thanks, man, you set a fine example for blues.

He's afraid of facing 510+ pages of pissed off forum members.

It might be possible that it is a big boss that commanded to announce it and force the Blizzard employees to do it (even if many believe the opposite but are forced to shut up).
That moderator could be just trying to push every complainer in the same thread (thus pushing further the # of pages of complains instead of risking thread spreads) so that that other bosses with influence can show that specific big boss how much he is truly a total idiot (potential profit loses, etc.) based on the number of pages. Since the moderator is forced to shut up, that's the best he can do to make a change towards a reversal of the situation.
EDIT : Heck, in a single day for the WoW forums, the concerned thread already reached 660+ pages.

Everything they post is pointed towards being condensed into a single thread, even the good changes.

This is the first move by Blizzard which does not make sense to me. Why would you give away archived information that you could sell under the table? I cannot see this as rational from any position of the Activision-Blizzard hierarchy. Or perhaps it's a cover so that they can sell it by sacrificing a good portion and then blaming it on third parties who abuse their forums? Still doesn't make sense because they are still liable and it is not a full proof plan.
Blizzard ever since the start of WoW has always taken a smart approach when it comes to profit. But this just trumps me. There is no profit to be made here =/ so whoever thought and pushed this through is either a total idiot or a schemer who even I would praise.
=] This is definitely the most interesting piece of Blizzard news to me in a long while.

At this point, I could even randomly take a conspiracy guess :
Said big boss (not necessary the "top-top" but a very high one) that ordered this was paid really big bucks by another company to screw over Blizzard under a public "incompetence" pretense. Since the worst case for him is just to get fired if he is not found sabotaging on purpose. However does it even matter if he gets money from that deal to live a quiet life for the rest of its days?
Honestly other than plain stupidity or a very high-risk marketing test (to know how much customers would tolerate this), I would be very tempted to believe that.
EDIT : Completely other than the conspiracy guess, I do find the timing for trying that just a bit too well made. Basically, they could cancel the idea asap and release the beta phase 2 to "calm everything". Thus it could go towards a high-risk marketing test since otherwise they would have no good opportunity to undig themselves any half-reasonably.
EDIT 2 : Scratching that second part, ultimately it doesn't make sense considering that most of the complains are on the WoW side, not on the SC2 side (thus there is nothing strong enough to just plain make them forget).

Awesome, Blizzard forums have always been a cess pool of trolls. They'd think twice now.
And if you don't like it? You don't have to post.

Honestly I cannot see how this is going to stop someone from trolling. I can't see half of the people having registered with their real names, anyway (I sure don't). Even if they did... what, is seeing their name magically going to make them happy and loving?

Or trolls are just going to go and start harassing people on facebook with real names right out in the open. There's valid reasons to post on the forums, this isn't going to do anything and if you think it is you're high.
