Thieves in Canada steal tiger and camels by accident
Yeah, I'd be concerned for
more than just the animals inside (there's a Tiger in there, for crying out loud). Interestingly enough, that same truck was headed for the zoo here.
I mean seriously, how do you steal a truck and not know or check to see what it's carrying?

They are being pretty optimistic that the animals were not the target. Could be they wanted to sell a pet tiger on the b.m.

Actually, I doubt they had any idea there was a tiger in there. Then again, even if they did, it'd be downright selfish to sell the Tiger without giving him some water to drink.
Regardless, I still had to laugh when I read that (heck, I even saw it on TV).

An update!
On Saturday afternoon, a $20,000 reward was announced for information leading to the animals' safe return, but zoo director Michael Hackenberger said that reward failed to produce any leads. It is still being offered in the hopes that the thieves will prefer the cash over the burden of three large exotic animals.
The pickup truck that had been hauling the trailer was found in a church parking lot in St. Eulalie early Saturday, about 73 kilometres from the scene of the theft.
"Who knows if we are dealing with goofy young kids who decided that a pet tiger was the greatest thing in the world?" Hackenberger said. "There is a lot of Hells Angels down here, and they are known for having pet lions and pet tigers as part of their presence, so it gets awkward."

They found the truck, but the trailer with Jonas, Sean and Todd inside is still missing. So the folks from the Zoo are offering a $20k reward for the animals' return.
And it's a good thing they had them microchipped, so tough luck for them if they plan on selling them.

I hope those hoodlums get caught.
Seriously, who in their right mind would steal animals who have been taken out of their environment?
Don't answer that inquiry.

Did you mean to imply that its some kind of double negative? As if they are stealing animals who have themselves already been stolen?
If someone was in their right mind and stole animals who had been taken out of their environment, I suppose the answer then is that they got returned safely to their environment.
That's a lot of implied subtext, is that what you were getting at dreamerhorwitz? I MUST KNOW!!!

Is it worth mentioning that the thieves are going to be busted since all three animals are microchipped?
To be honest, this is going to be absolutely hilarious when:
a) the Thieves look in the trailer, see the tiger, and run away screaming at the top of their lungs; and
b) this airs (and gets commentated) on "The Smoking Gun Presents The World's Dumbest Criminals"

That is not what I meant. What I actually mean is that Caring for those animals will be just as hard, since the thieves will be taking them into more unknown territory and since that the two thieves aren't trained to watch over them, the animals are already endangered.

They could skin them and sell their furs.

Microchips, at least for dogs and cats, only work at extremely close range with a special scanner wand and are used to contain a few bits of identity information. If these zoo animals have the same, then there's no way to track them down via satellite or anything, only for confirming their identities when/if found.

Or, in another worst case scenario, they could've killed them and sold their meat on the black market.
On the bright side, if they finally get the tiger and camels back and brought home I'll be paying them a visit at the zoo.

Or maybe they sold both their furs and their meats!
