The Epic Video Thread - Second Edition!

Jacked from my SA post which everyone has completely ignored -

Besides working on secretive and evil projects involving ponies and emus, I have taken accustom to making incredibly awesome videos involving ownage or hilarity in various games.

If I had all of Stabbyman on hand to demonstrate my first forays into editing when I still played WoW, I'd post those. Until then, I have a single episode of Stabbyman for your viewing.

www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/Stabbyman01.avi

More recent deviations included Butts2pointoh, a movie involving the exploitation of Halo havoc physics (which I'll no doubt be able to take on ten fold in SC2). This video was recorded using my Camcorder at like 1am.

www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/butts2pointoh.wmv

There was a LoL movie but I appear to have nuked it. Maybe HKS will upload it.

The most recent movies include Guild Wars gameplay videos.

Such as this, the first one -

www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/GWPI001h264.avi

And the most recent one, finished today -

www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/GWPI002h264.avi

Also recent is this video, an epic video that will shake the foundations of this world. YOU MUST WATCH IT.

www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/XXE00h264.avi

I'll post more videos in this thread as I make them. Finding material worth recording is difficult.

edit - The movies with "h264" on the end are my newest renders using the h264 codec. As I intend to use this codec from now on, it's highly recommended you fix your player if you for some silly reason don't have it, or just use VLC player.

Most of them are pretty big since I wanted to maintain quality.

Fraps likes to have interlacing issues, though, so it's not as good as I wanted it to be.

sup

I've had a new video on the ftp for a while. Here it is, fools and gentlemen.

XXE2.0 - 1.4gb, 1:14 hour running time

XXE2.0 is the work of about two weeks of hunting for footage. I went as far as jumping into Supreme Commander and CNC3 replay forums to find my material.

First we start off with some inanity in our private WoW server, then some Guild Wars, then the video takes full swing. The beginning is kind of slow, so you won't miss much by skipping 10 or so mins.

This is a longer and as a result more heavy video in terms of file size, but considering that 1.4 gigs is still pretty small, who cares. You guys have nothing better to do with your lives. In either case, I've uploaded two clips as well to give you an idea of what the video contains.

XXE2.0 is by far the best video I've done. It beats XXE1.0 easily. I wasn't expecting to find anything usable to record after I did the WoW/initial GW segment, but EA goes and introduces some incredibly retarded things into CNC3 and makes everything completely worth while. Everyone who has seen the video agrees it is 100% inane and delivers. If you've never seen CNC3 or Supreme Commander before, use this video to decide trying them or fleeing for your virginity.

www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/XXE2MOTHERSHIPh264.avi - Mothership clip 1

http://www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/ ... erh264.avi - Supreme Commander clip 1

www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/XXE2h264.avi - Full video

I fixed most of the lines that were appearing from interlacing, and upped the h264 bitrate to 2500, giving this video better than DVD quality, with I think 196kbps sound which proved sufficient. Again, if you have problems viewing the video or the clips, you either need to get CoreAVC or use VLC Player. I have tested all of these links and videos and they all work.

XXE3.0, which focuses on a single giant CNC3 replay, is finished editing but won't be available until I clear space on F to make up for the 25 gigabyte raw file (which will be an estimated 1:30 runtime and 1.7 gigs in size when done). However, I think XXE3.0 will be able to even beat this masterpiece, due to the nature of the replay in question.

Stabbyman 3.42

Size - 932mb
Running Length - 58min

Re-awakening is the savior of the universe, Stabbyman. Entrusted by God for a sacred mission of the greatest peril and danger, he scours the world of evil and challenges that which no man can challenge. Yet, deep in the Earth, a sleeping horror stirs, for the secrets of the universe desire to remain secrets, and the world falls into darkness.

(I am aware of some typos and such... definitely wasn't going to recompile to fix them.)

You know what? I don't care. This is for my videos, you know, ones that don't suck balls and actually have some degree of effort put into them.

Time to nuke some useless posts.

How long does it take to get fraps to run on your computer?

Mesk's vids probably took more than just 3 hours to make them.

One second. You run it, and you're good to go.

And chris' video was terrible. He sucks as a player and as a recorder. If it took him 3 hours to make that, then I'm just going to crawl into a corner and die because what final microscopic fragments of hope I had for the human race shriveled into infertile balls and somehow impregnated Bill Clinton with a martian child named Bob.

True Mesk, I dont see how it took chris like probably forever to run Fraps.

Also you do suck Chris, you use a pistol to kill people when they have auto-matics whats wrong with you? I have to watch Mesks videos soon, ive only watched one and they are very, very good.

its not whther you suck, its whther you had fun or not...which I did

BTW, doack, I have also lost every faith I ever had in humanity.......so you're not alone..

*sigh*
....I was dumb enough to download the demo first.....
needless to say, it took me ages to repair the damage it had done and then *cough* get *cough* the full version.

BTW, would somebody be so kind as to help me out with codecs?  :-[
I only have an avi-mpg converter which lowers the quality of the video considerably, which codecs do you recommend (DivX, Xvid, H264, etc) and if so....can you link me to a converter? I've tried 5 times on google to find only bulllcrap.

edit: Mesk's video's are great...but I also want to make my own.....

Get your hands on virtual dub and Core AVC. Use CoreAVC h264 compression at 1500-2000kbps.
