IskatuMesk SC2 Beta Coverage
Posted: Wed Feb 17, 2010 1:15 pm
In this thread, which I'll keep separate from the main discussion for organization, I will be managing the following media;
- Screenshots
- Video
- Commentary
- Q&A
The topics I'll be covering are;
- Everything. Menus, file structure, editor, replays, gameplay, graphics, sounds, you name it I'll cover it.
My media will come in the form of -
- Videos encoded in h264 through Staxrip and/or MEGUI. They will be in either 960x600 (majority will be 960x600 to conserve space on my drives) or 1920x1200 (reserved for special videos and major components like the editor coverage).
- 1920x1200 screenshots.
- Youtube videos.
To access these media you can,
- Check this thread
- Check my youtube account - http://www.youtube.com/user/mancatcher
All videos will be fully commentated by yours truly + hunter_killers when he gets his shit rolling.
My system specs -
Intel i& 920 Quad Core (with hyperthreading = 8 cores) @ 2.6ghz - I can OC to 3.6ghz if I want.
12gb Corsair Dominator PC8500
ATI Radeon 4870x2
Asus Xonar D2
5 HD's totalling 4.5tb (will be 5.5tb when I get new hd/windows 7 legit installed)
If Starcraft lags this machine it will kill yours.
Do you have questions? Requests? Post them in this format!
- Be clear what you want me to cover, and be specific. Do you want to see the Zergling's burrow animation? Achievement details? A specific matchup?
- Do you want me to commentate a specific game? Link and tell me why.
I will be focusing my commentary and experimentation on the following things,
- Engine functionality; How does it perform? How does it look? How does it compare to other high-end titles?
- Content; Is the voice acting still as blatantly awful as it was in the battle reports? Did they finally improve the explosion effects for the damn flying units?
- Potential modding-related functionality; How particles, projectiles, and units function with each other, the environment, and other little details.
- Computer AI; Computer AI is included with the beta and I will be extensively hammering it with every test I can throw it to try to determine if it's an improvement over wc3 or not, and what weaknesses it will have when it comes to modding and campaign crafting.
Stay tuned.
