Mass Effect 2

Pretty good, about 6 hours played so far. Mass Effect has a simplicity to it that is very charming, and the science fiction element interests me a lot more than say Dragon Age Origins. More character moments this time around seems like. The story is keeping pace with the rest of the game too. Definitely not putting this one down till its done.

First one was a bore. Introduction to the universe and story didn't interest me at all, and the retarded AI made me ragequit about 15 minutes in. Judging by the cheesy as hell trailer, ME2's story isn't anything that would interest me any further.
I'll pass.
Really, Bioware and Obsidian as a whole have just fallen off of my radar entirely. They are nothing compared to the days of Black Isle and their stories are all rubbish now.

I'd play the first game before I play the sequel but the commercials are entertaining to say the least.

Tsk Mesk, never positive ever hm?
Finished Mass Effect 1, liked it a lot, but the landing on planets in the vehicle was kinda stupid cause it didn't really have anything fun to offer.
That said I have my Mass Effect 1 savegame waiting for ME2.

Dragon Age was a better game than ME1 and I felt had a better Universe despite being cliched. ME's universe was interesting, but it was somewhat bland.

Someone always says that when I bash something. I just don't like the universes or stories for most games and movies. They're too simple, too cliche. I'm a literary guy. I write, and I work my ass off to make sure I don't tumble into any big pitfalls. Yeah, I'm vocal when I don't like stuff. People tend to be that way. But there are things I
do like. I liked Baldur's Gate, I loved Planetscape: Torment, Body Harvest, Battle Tanx... I'm just stuck in the glory days when stories still had huge amounts of effort put into them.
Though people have been saying the gameplay of ME2 is a lot better than ME1 which was my biggest gripe about it.

People do the same cliche things over and over because they work and it sells games, people are trying to make a living.
I'll be getting a copy from my friend this sunday so I can check it out. I'm a lot more exited about Aliens vs Predator and Bad Company 2 though.

No worries on stories for me Mesk. People are still bound to know Meta's richness for things.

I'm looking forward to playing it, but I probably won't get around to picking it up until Aprilish. Need more Dragon Age first.

Amazing that more of you guys don't have it. About 20-30 hours in so far. Lots to do. If you can follow the story, it's pretty fun. The universe is huge, and they are constantly using terminology native to that universe, so if you don't know the various alien races or locations, its easy to get lost in the dialogue. But if you can keep up just a bit, it's interesting.

I wouldn't rely much on GameSpot if I were you, Des. Being a large, known game site, she, IGN, and GameSpy give these notes pretty much because EA gives them the money. The example comes from RA3: Uprising itself: Because of EA's idea of charging download instead of selling DVDs, it couldn't sell much to bribe GameSpot, which in turn gave a 5 to it while others gave grades 7-10.

Why on earth would you take a Gamespot review for word? I figured you'd be a bit more sensible than that.

Lol, he's reviewing it himself in the thread, and that's all okay because he couldn't possible be lying or anything, but when he links to a well-known game review site you all jump his ass. Very funny.

I like Gamespot because it has the user reviews which are easily accessible and well organized. Usually seems to match the Gamespot review. I have no hate for them at all.
