Greetings. I came here so I could find help with modding and map editor, then share what I make with people. I joined smempire three days ago, but after looking around, I found out that that site bit the dust 2 months ago. this is just my hello post. I'll show what I'm going to be doing later.

SME bit the dust when it was first manifested. Those fools have never, ever done anything.

CC is following down the same road it would seem, although we are actually trying to get the site moving again.

One can only hope we get some new content if starcraft 2 is released

No. My oldest brother bought the games when they came out, and they'e been downloaded off and on.
I got damn good playing against the computer around my tenth birthday. I've never been on battlenet, and this is the first time (not counting smempire) that I've been on a SC forum.

We all start sometime, but you might want to elaborate on when your tenth birthway was.. Considering for me, that was before SC was even released, but I was definitely a child when it was released.

Well, I wish the forums were as lively as they were not even five years ago, but alas that is not the case. We're working on it though. I believe the possible WELL researched rumor of SC2 being announced this month could cause a spur of commotion.

Please refrain from double posting, especially on the same day, you can edit your original post. The site is currently being updated behind the scenes at a well pace and will be running when everything is ready to be ran. We already decided to cut back a lot of organization to speed up the process as well. So all I can say is: Soon. Keep your eyes on Blizzard more than CC, it'll help to know when CC's graphical site will be back up.

1.On StarEdit, if I am making a single player mission and have a rescuable unit for the player, but have shared vision on too, can I see the unit before I rescue them? I don't want it that way. Tell me, please.

2.I would like to know how to create entirely new units and unit portraits, and I've never tried something like either of those before, besides editing unit settings in regular StarEdit

"Entirely new" units as in additional .dat entries are not possible. However, you can modify existing units using a combination of programs like datedit, mpqdraft, and winmpq.

shit, I hope i get to be the executor again, not some totally new charater that has principles you don't believe in, like "it's not nice to take over the world" Thrall crap. jk, i thought thrall was a cool guy. I just loved being my own character, 'cept when I was a captain serving a communism gone wrong earth.

and indeed it is
I truly believe now that SC2 has been announced all the SC websites that haven't died yet will now slowly grow to the popularity they used to be in the "good 'ol days".
I also, believe that the nearly finished revamp of CC is a motif for the revival of the old starcraft community. I always wanted to be a part of that community ever since i first got starcraft 7 years ago but alas i only got internet access recently and missed out on all the buzz
