Here's a new campaign, titled Memories From Hell.  This will be a 5-mission horror/mystery/suspense campaign about a convict named Cain Archer.  He is sent to a prison, and after a couple hours, he starts noticing weird things.  He encounters monsters and learns about a previous convict who tried to unravel the mystery of why prisoners were disappearing.  What happened to this prisoner is not known, but he appears many times times throughout the campaign via computer transmissions.  This campaign does not take place in the Starcraft world, but I thought that I should at least put "Starcraft" on the title screen.

The Characters

Cain Archer - Sent to jail for numerous robberies, Cain Archer is not the most vicious convict out there.  He is new to the Greyhound Prison, but he starts noticing many strange things within just hours of his arrival.  After he encounters monsters and learns about another man who saw the same things as him, he must figure out what is happening in this prison before something happens to him.

Benedict Harold - A prisoner from 2547, Harold is the man on the computers.  He noticed that things were not right in the prison, so he went investigating.  Along the way, he posted numerous transmissions on many computers throughout the lab, just in case someone needed to know what was happening.  He is like the adviser of this campaign, and he helps Archer get through the prison.

Sean Hunter - Being a prisoner for 2 years, Hunter has also noticed weird things, but he has not worried about them until Archer mentions them to him.  He helps Archer explore the prison, and ultimately solve the mystery of what is happening to the prisoners.

--More to come--

So far, I've gotten some of the first mission down.  I know what I'm going to do and all, but I have no clue how to add a "horror" aspect to it.  Help please? :P

This kind of plotline sounds familiar..... like from another game I've played.... what are your sources of inspiration?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to call out plagiarism/unoriginal idea or anything; this just sounds like something I've seen before and it's bugging me because I can't think of what it is. I vaguely remember it being an FPS, but I'm not sure....  ???

Oh, another note: DON'T OVERLOAD THE FILESIZE FOR THE MOD THIS TIME. Your last mod was some ridiculous number like 2GB or something.

If you use some basic audio editing program (like Audacity), you can easily turn music from a stereo channel to one mono track.

Are you thinking of Doom?  And no, that's not where I got the idea from.  I got the idea from a b.net map called "The Other Side."

And Prono, my mod+maps was only 261 mbs.

You still haven't addressed my points in the first post.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't think voices will be necessary for this campaign.  I know it adds to the campaign, but there's so much text in each of the maps, and it would probably be a pain trying to make the map while trying to the get the voices perfect for it.

No, it was definitely something that took place in a prison with lots of people, prisoners and guards, getting killed by mysterious monsters and you were trying to escape. I remember it did have a very similar vibe to Doom 3.

Off-topic, but Doom 3 was scary as shit, imo. Albeit I was 13 when I played it.

Screenshots!

The briefing is kind of like Archer's "journal" and he is reflecting on what happened in the prison.

You can use an inventory to store items like health packs.

Ew, cigarettes are gross!  Maybe some of the other prisoners like them.

Hey, looks like this one wants them.

Is that a... monster?

Go to computers to read transmissions written by Benedict Harold.

When you're at a computer, you can re-read transmission by burrowing the correct "Read Transmission" unit.

More to come soon!

Your shuttle is blind. I'm afraid reaver micro will be pretty hard like that.

Tell me more about how this inventory thing is gonna work out; I'm a little confused...

When you come near an item (cigarettes, health packs, etc...), you'll pick it up if you have room in your inventory.  To use/discard the item, you unload it.  If it's something like a health pack, it'll be used when unloaded.  If something that has a certain purpose is unloaded randomly, then it will just lay on the floor so that you can pick it up later.  Certain items are meant to be traded with prisoners for better items (i.e. cigarettes) and you do this by unloading the item near the prisoner.

Why don't you try adding graphics to simple things such as the inventory? A simple backpack maybe? Nothing special. Perhaps you could give wire frames a try and give things like 'cigarettes' (items) a wireframe for when it's in a transport? That way we would know the difference between items in our 'inventory'. Just a thought, you know, to separate your campaign from every other map on bnet. (Not counting the portraits)
Eg.
Health Pack + Cigarettes :

(Please note this is my first actual attempt at a wireframe... so it IS ugly. I wouldn't mind a job since it is the holidays either, but if you can't do it get a pro... otherwise I'm very dedicated and willing to help. I'm a total newbie to graphics but wireframes like these could be whipped up in less than a few minutes...)

[Edit: OMG DID THE LINE ON MY XP BAR MOVE!!???]

Thanks, but I think the wireframes should be actual wires instead of solid images. :P  I know nothing of graphics editing, but I may try something very basic if I feel like it.

Zerg wireframes aren't wires. Think of it that way.
