My friend's cousin works for Blizzard, he says there is going to be a Warcraft 4. Anyone know any dates or details about this?

Two reasons why Warcraft 4 would be absurd:

1) Development in WoW will leave no room for story continuation in any other game.

2) Warcraft 4 before Starcraft 2? No sequel after nearly 10 years?

Starcraft 2 is a good idea, but Zilla is right, Warcraft if making piles of money, especially Wow, and i want to see the franchise go on. But Mucky also has a point, i bet starcraft fans are getting pretty mad, 2 starcrafts and 4 warcrafts.

Well he does... i have seen him. He gave my friend Wow and the warcraft battlechest.

Saying "There's going to be a WC4" or "SC2" or "Diablo 3" is like saying "events will occur in the future."  Sure, it's probably true, since they are likely to continue their existing franchises, but even if there is going to be a WC4, that doesn't mean they plan on working on it within the next 15 years.

I'm sure he won't mind making a blue post on the Blizzard forums to my specification, to make sure you aren't telling bull like everyone else who claims the same thing?

p.s. Blizzard is deeply afraid of failing SC2, because the people who made it what it was have moved on. Same for Diablo. (In fact, Blizzard North was completely dissolved when they were working on a new Diablo, a while back.)

okay well, i didnt mean to piss anybody off in this thread, i just wanted to know if blizzard had realeased any dates. Im not sure if the guy was lying but it sure seemed like he wasnt.

Starcraft faithful would be outraged if Warcraft 4 is planned to come out before SC 2. That would push all hopes of a SC2 out the window for at least another 10 years. 

I really hope SC2 comes out BEFORE War4. With WoW so succesful and War3 still fine I think Blizzard would be making a big mistake if they went with War4 before a SC2.

If he worked at blizzard, you certainly wouldn't need to ask us about dates.

WarCraft 4 will be created, the only question is when obviously. Prefferably after the creation of StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3.

Take into consideration WarCraft was released in '94, one year later, WarCraft 2 was released in '95, seven years later WarCraft 3 is released, ONLY seven years later. The expansions for all of these were released one year after with the exclusion of WarCraft.

Diablo was released in '96, (Hellfire expansion released in '97 but unsupported by Blizzard), Diablo 2 is released in 2000, the expansion one year later in '01.

StarCraft... Was released in '98. The expansion.. Was released in the same year. StarCraft: Ghost was announced in '02, and postponed/canceled four years later in '06.

The tenth year anniversary is approaching next year, with no Alpha, Beta, or announcement yet from Blizzard, it is very likely there will be no release of StarCraft 2 within that time.
