(campaign) Stukov: Total Control

I was unable to finish a campaign before the contest's deadline, and then I was unable to even make a one-scenario adventure for the Judicator Zilous contest (I was working on some stuff, though!). Summer's always busy for me, and that's why I decided to start working on a fresh campaign without any deadlines or requirements or whatever.
The campaign is mainly about Alexei Stukov, who, in my opinion, is one of the most interesting characters to have emerged from the Starcraft series so far. His story, though wafer thin at first, became very interesting for me after his resurrection. Funny that a free addition created by Blizzard long after Brood War (Resurrection) should give this character so much more depth and importance. I really hope Blizzard is going to do their utmost to bring him back to the forefront and give him a story worthy of his current mysterious status. In the meantime, I am.
The campaign will be spanning around 8 missions and will tell a story that's as close to official lore as possible. There will be a mod to accompany the campaign. Unique audio-visual content will be limited to text coloring, graphical customization and custom music.
Stukov: Total Control
Coming ... before the advent of StarCraft II.

I'm really looking forward to this and glad you're sticking to the lore as close as possible! If you need any help with the lore parts, I would gladly help (even though it would probably spoil dome of your campaign for me...) There are a few subtle things said about Stukov that aren't necessarily mentioned in the missions he is in, so I could help point those out for you if you so wished.

Hey,
Thanks for the offer! Who knows, I might need to consult you sometime even though I've spent many hours on Starcraft Wiki, just catching up, refreshing my memory and all that. I like the fact that Blizzard has not overdeveloped Starcraft like they did Warcraft.
Later.

Looking forward for this one, Legion.

If you need beta testers, just tell!
Also, is this campaign gonna be voiced?

I'm really good at spotting any contradictions in stories with taking the entire SC universe into consideration and have read nearly all StarCraft media (besides Frontline Volume 3.... still trying to find a copy of it

) I'm also a frequent StarCraft wiki user and editor, so if you want help to make your story closer to seemless (or even just someone to critique it), I'll do what I can.

Sadly, I can't give you a conclusive answer right now. I suppose getting the voice actor who did Stukov for Blizzard to play the role in my campaign is not beyond the realm of possibilities given voice actors' general accessibility (although I guess he must have signed a contract stating that he should not engage in voice acting roles for a character named Stukov with that very accent) but that would be too ambitious. I'll leave the hiring of professional talent to the big guys here. In a very distant past I tried impersonating Stukov, but I wasn't pleased with the way it sounded. So, currently, there are no plans to voice the campaign. I will do my best to deliver an interesting experience, though, and will utilize my voice acting/sound editing plans when I start production on a Starcraft 2 project.
thebrowncloud, thanks again for the offer. I'm very fond of alternate universe and works that stay clear of Blizzard lore like many of the great campaigns hosted here, but I'm equally interested in fanfiction adhering to canon and employing Blizzard characters and the many challenges that come with such an approach. I'll be sure to contact you when I need proofreading and/or assistance!
Cheers.

Haven't heard anything from this campaign in a bit. What's the current status? Any playable maps yet? I'm game for some testing if you need it.

Hey,
Maps, yes. Playable, not really. Also working on the mod and selecting music for the mission. So definitely some progress, but nothing worthy of anyone's attention... yet!
Thanks for offering assistance, man, it's appreciated. By the way, I'll be sending you a PM shortly with my thoughts on HoP (using some of the pointer questions from your thread).

Well, I figured since I have my very own thread here, I'd post an update every week or so. Here goes.
Total Control is very much in production. However, most of the work done is limited to planning, plotting, scheming, premature mapping and technical stuff... Basically, the mod is complete, Stukov has got his own voice pack and special weapon (I am considering giving him a special ability, but I haven't quite figured out how to do that just yet) and I've selected music for every mission. This, of course, is all subject to change/improvement.
However. Total Control hasn't had my undevided attention these past few days. I've been working on something else that's already taken me longer than expected, but it should be finished pretty soon. It's helped me get my mind off Stukov (hah) for a while, and I can only hope the result is going to get a warm welcome by, well, you.
Okay.

There will be an overmind in it, right? Your voicing for the overmind in your last campaign was better than blizzards voicing so.. yeah.

Another Update
Okay, it's been a while and it's been pretty busy, too. Luckily, I've managed to do some work on Total Control. Currently, a couple of the maps are done and I've got a pretty good idea where it's all going! That's always a plus, isn't it? I'm not quite happy with some plot devices, so what I'm doing now is basically drafting, scratching and trying things out.
I'm also going to reveal a secret to those actually reading this (and those that still want to play the old Dark Swarm*)... I'm nearly done with Dark Swarm: Special Edition, which is basically a total revamp of the original campaign. The original mainly got attention because it had voices, but this one is actually going to be interesting gameplay-wise. If you liked Dark Swarm, you'll like what's coming, because it's going to tell the complete story this time around. New maps, more maps, new voices, more challenges... It's just better!
* Lately, people have been sending me messages asking where to find Dark Swarm. It should still be on the same website, although if you really want to play it, you might want to wait for the new one.
