stereo mix has completely died on me

The other day I discovered that my screen recorder was unable to record sound. I discovered that something was wrong with stereo mix. I decided to uninstall the drivers and install the laptops stock ones (which never worked BTW) and that did nothing but mess up my microphone so I went to realTek and installed the latest drivers from there. my microphone and other settings got fixed but stereo mix didn't. It is just completely dead, I can't start audacity without disabling stereo mix first.

Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated

Whats really strange is that sothink SWF to AVI converter and Fraps can still record normally.

Ew audacity.

Annoying audio utilities aside, download motherboard drives and uninstall realtek ones before installing. Should this fail to work, find your specific chipset drivers.

RealTek and laptops don't like each other, to be honest, but I suggest searching on Google and reading your issues, such as "realtek no stereo mix." I had an issue where the microphone was unresponsive on an Alienware computer (terrible computers) and I had better luck downloading a RealTek file from a forum than from the official site.

Wow, this computer is fucking nuts. It fixed itself. while disabled I right clicked on stereo mix and saw that the set to default option wasn't greyed out anymore. I clicked it and everything was back to normal. WAT

Edit: Wait, no. It's not fixed. It's just back to the way it was before I tried fixing it. a few missing options and my software refuses to record from it saying something is wrong with the imput device settings.
