Site Slowness

We are aware the website, especially forums, have been running incredibly slow lately, and have come in contact with our providers. They are currently looking into it, and we are doing what we can to keep your experience here enjoyable. If you experience any server errors, please bare with us and refresh the page.
UPDATE: Please be aware, any bookmarks you may have within the forum, or links following into the forum, or directing to the forum, will no longer operate correctly. We are updating our news to reflect new URL directions to the default Simple Machines forum URL. We have disabled a third-party plugin which allowed rewrites of the URL. That's Dreamhost for you. Amazing how it started shortly after the new LOTC video was released. Sigh, I hope I don't regret signing up with them for my site. But the first year was practically free anyways, so not much of a loss there if things don't work out.

Well, Dreamhost, is of course, shared hosting, and the issue is memory usage, as in RAM, not really bandwidth, so it is likely a failing script. This isn't necessarily dependant on this site, however, as there is more than one site hosted under my account, so I am taking a look through them all right now.

That's what they tell you, but in reality many web host companies will actually throttle your resources down if you use too many resources, be that bandwidth, cpu, whatever. In other words, if 5000 people download a 100mb video file, they may throttle the entire site down because of excessive resource usage.

Anyway, I haven't noticed any particular slow downs from my end... speaking of dreamhost, a friend of mine managed to cash in on a limited unlimited bandwidth and hard drive space offer so woop de doo

CC operates on a permanent unlimited everything setup, thanks to being a long-time customer, however of course this is provided on an as needed-basis and must be actual content and not a "internet back up drive" for computers.
