I have only started modding and can do most basic things, but on Firegraft after saving as a self excuting exe file the exe doesn't work. When i open it nothing happens. Other exe files work, even ones made by MPQ Draft. I am using Firegraft 0.93 and BW v1.15 but i have already reinstalled starcraft twice and download firegraft twice.I have windows XP sp3. Help would be much appreciated. Im trying to make a marine burrow.

What kind of modifications are we talking about, here?

I changed the marine's buttons to have a burrow button as well. But ive tried other things and none of them seem to work.
I just also made an exe file with Datedit 1.5d, and it doesn't seem to work either

I believe there's no animation code for the Burrow command of Marines. You need to do stuff with iscript.

i have but all of the work is useless if the firegraft exe doesn't work....

What about simple edits in Firegraft?

nope, doesn't start ,even if i dont change anything if i save it as self excuting exe, it doesnt start.
I did some checking, all Starcraft Self Executing Patcher files made by Datedit 1.5 and Firegraft don't work at all.

Define "doesn't work". Is it not loading at all, does Starcraft load and your changes aren't there, or does SC load and your changes are there but they don't work as expected?

1) Not loading at all: Something is probably blocking it on your system, such as your Anti-Virus or DEP (Data-Execution Prevention) is set to On. If DEP is on, then the mod would need to be added to its safe list manually, or turned off altogether. If it's your Anti-Virus, then disconnect from the internet and try disabling it when testing your mod.

2) If no changes are present, then you may not be using the correct SC version.

3) If they simply don't work, then you missed something, did something wrong, or cannot do what you want.

I doesn't load at all, sorry if i didn't say it clearly.
I disabled my Kapersky Internet Security but it still doesn't load. I disabled DEP as well still doesn't work. I tried both as well.
For some reason when i run the exe in compatability mode for Windows 95 it starts and then says there is no CD in the CD rom.
I also downloaded a firegraft self excutable file from the inter and it doesn't work, so its probably something on my computer not the Firegraft or Starcraft software.
I also in desperation unearthed my old computer in the garage. It runs Windows 98 and has virtually nothing on it. When i tried my mod then, with the correct SC version it worked! But when i run it in compatibility mode on my current computer it keeps saying there is no cd.

Considering you had the same problem with Kapersky, I'm surprised you haven't said anything. =oP


Dear DTN:
As I just mentioned, Lavarinth had Kapersky installed and mods would not load at all. Once he uninstalled Kapersky, they worked fine. Basically, Kapersky is blocking Starcraft mods. Not sure if there's a setting you could change in Kapersky to allow SC mods through, but Lavarinth has confirmed uninstallation will work.

I don't think i should uninstall my Kapersky yet, ill just wait for it to run out there's only about a month left
any recommendations for a new antivirus?
Kapersky just blocks everything

Hercanic swears by BitDefender, I haven't tried it though.
