Upgrading from "Downgrading"

Alright guys and gals, we all know what's gettin' really old: "I can't play Insert_Campaign_Name_Here because it gives me an EXE error. Well, how about instead of the typical "downgrade to 1.07" excuse, we see what else we can do about it?

I've received an e-mail from someone running XP Media Center, who downgraded to 1.07, correction: Installed fresh to 1.07, and still cannot run the EXE either from the desktop OR the SC folder. Now, downgrading is great and all, but with today's tech like PyMS or FireGraft, shouldn't it be possible to convert these old school EXEs into a more usable format?

And if not, does XP Media Center have more additional issues than XP originally did?

I have a sticky, its for vista but it could be a similar issue for XP.

That completely disregarded the rest of my topic, and isn't relative to XP Media Center ;)

SECWADs can be extracted back into CWADs with a converter program, which can then be opened by StarDraft and all its contents extracted.

As for downgrading, goodness, why is that person doing a fresh install? There are simpler means available nowadays! Farty's Downgrader allows you to instantly change your version to any SC version and back again. It's awesome to use when playing mods that require various versions of SC.

Yes, well, that's really of no use when you can't launch the EXE since it's a SECWAD instead of SEMPQ. Haha.
