James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace.

Just saw the movie recently and I can see why its been rated as one of the best Bond movies. Casino Royale didnt have as much action as most James Bond films did but this movie totally added back all the hard action and liked the whole Bond with the trigger finger who kills everyone and doesnt save anyone for questioning. It shows a different side to Bond (after the only girl he loved died) but younger and still just recently getting his 00 status.
I thought it was a very interesting movie, alot of action and suspense.
What did you think?

It wasn't as good as Casino Royale but that was always going to very tough one to do. I thought Quantum of Solace was great and I just can't wait to see where they take the series. They're very slowly revealing the Quantum organisation, in fact Mr White's line at the start of the movie and Mr Greene's plot was all we discovered. I predict great things for the overall plot in the future.
Speaking of Greene, he should definitely, as many reviews have said, had more of a villainous part of him, but I've read that the film makers wanted him to seem like a normal person who you would not suspect of enormous terrorism and extortion, much like today's financial climate.
The only problem is that if you miss a moment then you're confused (And a friend of mine hadn't seen CR so he came out extremely perplexed), like I had when Bond meets Camille for the first time. James realises he's taken the assassins place when he meets up with her, she realises it, they fight inside the car while someone on a motorcycle is following them ("Isn't he trying to kill them?" I wondered) but he turns out to be an MI6 agent - BLARGH. Then that bit at the end with Vesper's traitorous fake ex-boyfriend - the necklace, plot-wise, really tied it all together and helped to make sense of it. The rest wasn't too hard to follow though.
I recently watched Goldeneye after a decade (I feel old) and it's amazingly different. Same setup and many other similarities but it still had that very light campy element where the odds are always overcome by 007, whereas in the Daniel Crag movies he sure as hell gets very hurt, physically and mentally. He's had his high and low so I'm curious where they'll take him next - hopefully it'll be more than "I'm not falling for that again".

True, Casino Royale though was a great remake for "Her Majestys Secret Service" which had a horrible actor for Bond. And the plot details always had it looping around from either Le Chiffre, White, Vesper and moving around alot. I did wish they would bring Mr White in, after they had their briefing I was expecting Bond to go after White as well.

The first time I saw QoS I didn't like it, because it seemed to lack closure. But when I saw it the second time, I realized I had missed a lot, and I liked it much better. Daniel Craig is definitely the strongest, fastest, toughest Bond yet, and I like him.

It was fucking terrible. The charm of Bond is that he just don't give a fuck. He isn't motivated by revenge, or love, or anything like that. He just does his job. This wasn't James Bond, it was just some douche in a suit running around killing people. Now, I'd totally go see Douche In A Suit, but I didn't go to see that. I went to see Bond, and I got shit.

I saw it recently. I kinda lost myself in the movie and wondered... why is the building complex in the middle of the desert exploding?
Also, the ending felt kind of like an ending... except it was real quick.
Also also also, butts.

Heck yeah!
I actually haven't seen either of these latest two Bond films. Guess I should get around to it soon.

I'm saying this as a matter of fact: you're the first person I've met who hates it.
It was a complete reboot of Bond, so we saw him beginning his career as a 00 agent. This was a great way to show him becoming what you described - an emotionless being when it comes to killing. So we get significantly different character development (of the main character no less) for the Bond movies. He still "did his job" - at one point he even grabbed a table knife and was going to assassinate Le Chiffre to end the mission. He makes several mistakes. All of it is forging him into the ultimate ideal of a secret agent.
After the events of Casino Royale, that's exactly what we're starting to see in QoS. Before, he was worried he had nothing left in his soul worth saving by Vesper, but now that has all exploded. He doesn't have much left, he's dedicated solely to his work. As I suggested earlier, I really hope there's further exploration of this. M and MI6 realising how much of an absolutely cold killing machine Bond has become ... that could be very interesting.
In line with the reboot, they changed many parts of the Bond formula - the gritty style in particular, as well as aspects of the villains, the girls and, to begin with, the scope of his missions (Whereas most later Bond movies end up being "Stop X superweapon\event before it destroys the world", that could not continue forever without getting dull and predictable).

It was mentioned briefly - it was all hydrogen or battery powered or something, with the intention of being environmentally clean. Why the general had such I don't know, unless it was owned by Greene which would make more sense.
I forget what happened, but I think Bond and Camille set some bombs up or stray bullets hit the tanks, causing a chain reaction.

I'd be more inclined to say it's an MP5 in the promotional shot you're talking about because of the height of the length of the suppressor and this:

Thought it was pretty terrible. The action was all shakey cam, quick cuts, and zoomed. Thats what makes horrible action scenes. Since this is basically a straight up action movie, they needed to get that right, and they blew it big time. Thumbs down.

I can't believe that. Everyone I know was let down by this movie.
