Blizz: Desperate for WoW subscribers?

This is really some bullshit.

I played since beta, up until AQ, and started playing BC a couple months after it came out, and was planning to renew for WotLK. I like the expos because everything is new, nice and enjoyable for a little bit, despite all the misgivings of the game. But I doubt I'll waste my money on WotLK after this.

A free ZEBRA mount, TRIPLE xp (quest exp, too!), a free hourly summon to each other's location, and a free level for your character if your friend levels up twice. (35 free levels per 70) so long as you get a friend to drop, what, 40 bucks on vanilla, 30 dollar subscription, and if they want BC, another 30 bucks?

gg.

edit; haha, think of gold farmers who will be thriving on all this free exp, since they have to constantly get new accounts.

Wow, this is why I play private servers.

That is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Basicaly they just rigged it for anyone who pays more money (hell it doesnt have to be your friend just make another account and gain double xp on both). Anyone know a good private server. I'm done playing mainstream WOW.

I don't know if I will get in trouble for this. But World of Racuria is the best private server in my opinion. It's is very similar to Blizzards, the least buggy private server I have seen and isn't that instant level 70 bullshit.

Thanks i'll Google it. Blizz ruined the last fun part of WOW. First its the Elites. Then its the outside doungeon monsters. Now its the balance. They may as well allow gold buying. Your basicaly buying levels and ports.

lol, what elites? The thing that really pissed me off was the CC-immune elites in TBC, but in the old world they were fine. Outside raids, they were neat too, chaotic as hell, but neat.

Balance? That'd be fixed with WotLK, I think. It's just the gear is so strange. BT-equivalent PvP epics are bumped down by Sunwell PvP epics, and now that BT-equivalent PvP gear is easier to get than the PvE gear, so eventually PvP gear is more efficient for your time. They should've just kept upping the par for PvP.

Personally, I preferred the ranking system, but what would be best is a hybrid. Your rank gives you access to certain gear, you have to have the honor to buy it though. PvP gear prices only drop by a marginal price, that way they are still as difficult to obtain as their PvE counterparts, because, if you could get S2 gear, you could get S3 gear easy. But if you could farm BT, that doesn't mean Sunwell is going to come as easily.

such a long post about nothing, really. I don't care about WoW anymore.

I've said that before. Always ended up playing again though.

My thing is, I usually force myself to play WoW to kill time when I'm away from home. And with the advent of SC2 and D3, and my renewed interest in WE and FL Studio, I think WoW won't be in my future if it keeps this up.

I am so happy that I can go to a forum on this community and not see every other topic be about World of WarCraft.  I mean it was everywhere - here, Star Alliance, all the SC sites, just WoW this WoW that.  Dungeon this, epic loot that.  Raid boss this, imbalance that.  It was totally crazy, its like all the community sites just abandoned their purpose.  The web site Infoceptor is an excellent example of this.  Deathwing ran that site almost by himself and kept updating it till WoW came out, then just totally abandoned it for months at a time.  It's totally dead now as far as I know.

Oh man, I used to think infoceptor was one of the best blizzard fansites around. I thought it was in the process of dying before the WoW beta even started?

And, I won't mention WoW again, I promise. This was just sort of a ludicrous thing though. I just hope the mess of a world that Warcraft is doesn't get all over my coveted Diablo and Starcraft. Never was real a fan of any Warcraft. I think the only time I really enjoyed playing WC3 is when dryads/archers raped face for about a month before TFT came out. I think I won 25 straight games with that strategy.

It's true- World of WarCraft did kill communities all around. Which makes me think this attempt for new subscribers (although I hardly call it desperation due to their player count) is a blessing in disguise as some current users will find all their hard work now useless as they could of just "insta-leveled" and received 300% experience.

Bull, sir.

Its ok, we haven't had a WoW topic in so long.  :D  Actually, I'm relieved to see this site has endured so much when a lot of other sites have died off.  The credit definitely goes to Lavarinth, the remaining regulars, and those who still continue to write campaigns for SC.  Cookies and pie for everyone.

As for the WoW news, I'm sure it'll actually work - they may want to get people 'readdicted' at this point in time since the expansion is right around the corner.  Now is the perfect time to do it too since the hardcore users can level themselves all the way to 70 before the expansion hits.

There's no mention of "returning" users though, which I know was part of their rules before, the user had to create a new account.

I'd be willing to prove it in a llittle 1v1 with patch 1.11 =D, I'm sure the strategy is just as cheap. Or maybe it was because no one expected it at the time, who knows. I kinda like the idea of reliving the days I enjoyed WC3 the most.

I definitely envy those who can still write campaigns for SC, and deal with the outdated triggers and such. I wish I had the patience to go back and deal with all the limits. I kind of dream of making a SC original campaigns.

As for getting people readdicted, I doubt anyone who played WoW since launch (if there are any left) will be thrilled with WoW once WotLK's gimmicks get old.

and yeah, Lavarinth is right, this only rewards you if it's a completely new account with a 30 day subscription.
