Aside from the look, I think it'd be neat to have an aerial vehicle that can repair. I'm assuming it can.

Now with 50% more lol, 50% more win, and 100% phlail.

I have to agree with lav. To be honest, this is the least impressive new unit that blizzard has made so far for SC2. It sucks in role, it sucks, in shape, but worst of all the colors suck. It looks more like a flying version of the "you are a gigantic faggot" gif guy.Lavarinth wrote: I'd like to know how this "replaced the more costly Science Vessel." Where'd the EMP Shockwave? Irradiate? Defense Matrix? Oh no wait- But it build this awesome detecting turret- NOT! I might as well focus on building Nomads the whole game, then fly them over to the enemy base and plop them down, I'm sure out of a dozen nomads, a few would finish.

How dare you say that when there's a movie showing Nomads alongside that horrible horrible horrible unit known as the Demon Hunter Dark Templar? Argh, I can't stand those DTs with huge double scythes.chris wrote:I have to agree with lav. To be honest, this is the least impressive new unit that blizzard has made so far for SC2. IMO the Nomad needs a grittier skin and some Vessel abilities. Lose the McDonalds colour scheme and it'll already be a big boost. I think the weird horseshoe design looks much superior to, say, the extremely generic Protoss Phoenix. Weird units > all. But it needs a better sikn.

The DT's don't even cut dudes with the scythes, they poke them as though they are using swords or something. Hopefully they will fix that.

Agreed, I don't know many that support the double scythe situation. The Starcraft.org forum is stressing this greatly, along with the Terran blockyness and bright colors.

Don't get me wrong, I think the double scythe is a sexy weapon, I'm just not a fan of sneaky ninja like DTs suddenly turning into giant juggernauts of destruction with the only thing in common between the two is that they are ground units that are invisible.

Double scythe is a cool weapon.
But the DT simply does not do it justice.
Plus the DT and the weapon are so low poly it looks horrible in either case.

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
Definitely - maybe the scythe could be used for a warrior hero in the single player campaign, a special unit or something.
My main problem with the Terrans are 1- the marine's bayonet; and 2- their units just don't have that ragtag feeling anymore. The Protoss do look techfreaky and mystical enough, but the glows are a little too bright sometimes. I think the Phoenix is a little too generic for an alien ship, as the Corsair design looks much more interesting than it, and the Cobra looked too much like a Vulture to the point that I wondered why they bothered adding it to the game anyway, but since old units will still be in the editor, I don't care much.
From a campaign maker's point of view, don't the Mothership and the Thor just scream "use us in a boss battle"?

what i think bliz is dooing is downgrad the "spellcaster" units importance on the battlefield and expanded the fighting units uniqueness
and power. This is to change the style of war from choosing right unit that would be able to pawn other units with enough skill to units being able overcome the threat but with some cost
changing the game to more tactical rather than skill

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
Eh. The cobra looks nothing like a vulture. It's an oversized turret on a small chassis with completely unfitting characteristics for a terran vehicle.
Also judging by the HUGE ghost buffs, they are making spellcasters even more important now.

If you're trying to say that SC1 was so strongly dependent on micro to the point where the new units in SC2 will bring about a huge difference in gameplay, I'm going to disagree. Macro trumps micro. Sure, there is some neat stuff you can do with dropships, vultures, etc., but when it comes right down to it, having an 200/200 army of 1/1 tanks+vultures in 15 minutes is what will win the game.
The ghost is being loaded up because it is underused in SC1. Theoretically, they'd come out as often as BCs/carriers did, but most of time people just used goliaths or their own BCs in lieu of ghosts. Most spellcasters that lack any damage output are shelved away (ghosts, queens, DAs). The two exceptions are defilers and arbiters, their abilities being powerful in their own right.
