I am having pneumonia-like problems again which has been a show stopper for a week now.

did it get any better?
As a sidenote, I have been picking up dark souls again and started to revisit your let's play of it again. I have been doing really well for a good chunk of my playthrough, but I'm still catching myself with an massive buttblast at some really unholy mini-bosses or retarded mobs. If you say that you got butthurt at some points, I can totally relate. How did you even finish this game without breaking the keyboard? I'm still far away from the end, and I have nearly reached my boiling point several times.

I have a fair tolerance for badness. Most people I know couldn't get through the first couple of hours of either souls game.
Now, Lords of Game Testing... that one is really testing me.
Unfortunately, not getting any better. It's not really debilitating, but it still sucks.

Are there still opportunities for science?

Oh yes. There are many, many silly bugs.
/edit
The aids is spreading and it's really not improving at all. It may well be pneumonia, I just might be somewhat resistant to it now. I will try to continue working amidst this...

Sat through Symphony of the Night and UT3 (why the... did I do that to myself?)
Castlevania delivers, expectedly, but as you've said yourself - not balanced difficulty-wise. Some other games of the series (say Order of Ecclesia again) seem to fare better in this regard while having very similar interface and overall styling (and to my taste it also has a reasonable-ish boss design). Oh, and yeah - easy way to end the game half-way)
As for UT3... As a once upon a time not disgusting UT2004 player only thing I can do is concur and sign every damn word you have to say about it. Never rest in piece UT series, cause for allowing THAT to happen to you you deserve no less than eternal punishment by the holy rod. Kinda one of many reasons there is no way whatsoever any player can play any kind of shooter nowadays and remain serious about or keep coherent for more than 1 hour at a time.

Yep. UT3 is a disaster. I'll probably do some of those other castlevania games sometime.
I have pruned some old files off the FTP. Namely some old voice files, the Black Sun SFX archives, a few old videos (nothing related to the LP thread or its offshoots), and some misc crap. So, if some ancient links stop working elsewhere, that's why.

Have you seen the trailer for legacy of the void? How does it make you feel?

I looked at it. I don't know why they were putting random warp blade slashing sounds in certain scenes. It didn't match what was going on in the screen. There wasn't a single dark templar in those parts. It's like the person who did the sound for this trailer didn't check to see what the sound was actually used for in Starcraft 1 and just inserted in because he thought it sounded cool.

Generic trailer is generic. Not as bad as the hots trailer. But then you hear that filter they applied on half the audio (and are using for the commentators in buttcon) and... yeah.
If Blizzard hired someone who knew choreography maybe their budget would go somewhere useful for once.

Yet again they changed the effects on the Toss voices. Femtoss sounds different in each SC2 iteration.

What filter is that? I'm guessing it's some kind of reverb or echo.

The frequency crunch. Why everything sounds so flat and shrill. I think it's some kind of EQ setting or compressor. It's really evident in all of their cinematics from cata onwards.

Mesk - can you point me where to start if I want to find out some good practices of encoding video with h.264 for statc scenes vs. high motion scenes ? What parameters lead to what outputs etc.
