Doack, why did you use the anime container (MKV) for your video? Seriously, this is the first non-anime MKV video I've ever seen in my life. How and why did you use MKV? (I don't have a problem with it, I'm just very curious since I like making videos and such.)

But comparing a shitty zombie server setting to L4D is fucking retarded. it doesn't even come close to the gameplay in L4D. You don't have 100 screaming super fast zombies running at you, then a tank just barges in and beats the shit out of everyone. Not even close dude.
You just described the old ZS from like, a year ago. While there are still fasties, they can't move and attack at the same time. Besides, WTF man? You're not supposed to be running outside alone like a maniac, of course you're gonna get owned by fasties. And no, its not shitty, in fact, I've proudly donated 30 bucks so far to the developer. And its not a setting, its a complete mod...for a mod.
Anyway, I've played the full version of L4D. Overall its nice, but 1 strong factor prevent it from being a favorite: 1) The game contains one big nanny. Its almost impossible to choose which server you want to play on. Even if you use -console and the openserverbrowser, the boxes dissapear for some myserious reason when you click outside of them meaning each time I want to join a specific server I have to go in and out of the game. I've tried to hack my way around this nanny but I've failed. Now, once I manage to get into a game, the gameplay is pretty great. My PC, despite being now, doesn't handle it too well but it works great on low settings and I don't care for graphics anyway. The gameplay is as the reviews said it is: A movielike experience and I am really impressed by how well things are executed.
Overall, L4D and ZS tie each other out in terms of gameplay as both are fun in completely different ways, but the difficulty of actually starting the game the way you want it L4D compared with the easyness of doing so in ZS (and gmod in general) pretty much breaks the tie. I'll be sticking with ZS until the nanny is killed.
watch this and tell me its not as awesome as Left 4 dead

Specific server? The games appear to be hosted by players randomly, not servers. (Not sure if this is correct.) But if you just want to join friends.. Join them via the simple setup for joining games with your friends, or if it's one of your groups, same thing.

Dear Chris:
Watching the video, Zombie Survival looks whimsical, but the gameplay seems very rough around the edges. The whole "camp the choke" is kind of lame. Melee in first-person, as in the blindly swinging hoping to catch a hit kind, isn't my cup of tea, either. =o\

Well, this usually depends on the map being played.
In that case, here is a video that you might like more:

Sorry, after going out and playing 3 of the 4 campaigns with a variety of fools I'm just going to ignore anything said about gmod mods.
I use MKV because Staxrip defaults to that, because it gives you the options to use various subtitles, sound tracks, ect. Although I don't use those features, they'd be handy if I ever needed to.
Going back to L4D, HKS and I introduced WB and one of his friends to how l4d is really played and they both eventually ragequit. Then Mucky and Wibod joined us and we had a good romp through the rest until the end of 3, all on Advanced.
It's funny because especially the last areas of the third campaign gave us a LOT more trouble than what you see in my demo video of Expert. I mean, on two occassions Tanks spawned RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FUCKING SAFEROOM which, belying its comforting name, offers you no protection at all against Tanks who can just waltz right in and punch every person at once. The first time I tried to molotov the tank from outside and instead it bounced off the wall and lit everyone else on fire. Woot!
Que Van survival sequence. Everyone was always on fire. Always. When we struggled to get to the last saferoom... all on one health. It was quite epic.
Finally we ended up in finalle for the third campaign. Wibod ragequit, and lavaloli joined us. It was pretty lulzy.
I'm going to make a video of me doing a single-player run on Advanced, mostly to demonstrate how the AI Director tries to counter my faggotry, and possibly of a group run through Expert, but right now I have no space on F for recording so I couldn't record any of our games last night.
Out of some 42 witches I think there was only one we ever actually bothered to sneak past. The others I usually just walked right up to them and threw a molotov or pipe bomb at their face and ran away giggling at the high-pitched squeel and explosion, followed by a flaming witch running around getting gunned down.
The only thing I wish is that the demo didn't lie, and there were actually 10 new weapons, and some new Boss infected. Patches will add those apparently, though.

Okay- Do you guys TYPE or SAY anything in game? I can BARELY hear people on the mic and I've yet to join a game where someone types something in game.

By "ragequit" he means I quit the game to go to work. And my "friend" was a random stranger.

We use ventrilo over the game because of being able to modify volumes accordingly, and it has superior quality (Although L4D's voice transmission is superior to all other VOIP I've seen yet,
especially WoW's which is horrible).
WB > You ragequit because of my manliness, admit it.

Well, after extensive play, I've concluded on the following.
- The game is in dire need of more weapons. Probably over twice the current number. I find myself using the same gun throughout the entirety of the four campaigns, occasionally switching to autoshotty when we wipe on Dead Air. And these campaigns are pretty long.
- I think patches should add some more zombie bosses as well. A run through the first level in the first campaign pretty much shows you every enemy you run across, except for the Witch, if a Tank spawns (which they can and often do).
- Huntards and Smokers need a life increase, probably double of their current. This is especially prominent in Versus where you die in literally one or two hits and never get the chance to do any damage except in very specific circumstances.
- You need to be able to access the difficulty setting for Versus without going through the console, and it needs to
not scale according to map.
- Valve needs to hurry up and update the SDK.
- In-game voice chat apparently crashes you in the lobby a lot. I crashed, ApeRape crashed, pheo crashed... all while using voice chat. It's a good thing we use vent normally.
The game has a lot of freaking sound files and my voice pack probably won't be done anytime soon.
If I knew Hammer, which I don't and never will, I'd take advantaged of a greatly increased weapon pool and make a campaign where you'd actually have some variety. You know, instead of finding a huge stack of t2 weapons and decking everyone out, there's just the odd stray weapon around. I think Turtle Rock didn't do this because everyone who plays games is a 12 year old and you'd have team killing galore for weapons. Well, I presume most of the people I play with who shoot each other only do it out of spite and not for weapons, so yeah.
I'd like to see something like a revolver that bisects zombies, mp5, portable minigun, rocket launcher, railgun, rocket-propelled chainsaws, and harpoon guns like in Timesplitters 3. That thing was awesome. For that matter, injector guns.

Because I'm bored, I'm going to show images for the weapons I'd like to see inside L4D.

Whoops, I forgot a few. Since this is America, and this is a zombie apocalypse, all of our weapons need to be realistic. So we must think about what Americans use for home safety. So, in addition to the above, we'd also probably find a lot of these laying around on the street.

Sometimes people talk about melee weapons. Well, I think melee is pretty goddamn rediculous as it is. But if you properly nerfed melee, then you'd have room for some dedicated weapons that perhaps run in place of one of your guns.
This is America, so we need to think about what kind of weapons Americans would use for self-defense in hand-to-hand combat.
