It really comes down to whether or not you like "fill-in-the-blanks" gameplay in an RPG or if you prefer the spoon-fed approach. The former might not seem too appetizing but it really is IF you like to roleplay and see a game not as the creator's playground but whatever you want it to be.wibod wrote: MGS4 depends a lot on if you played and enjoyed the previous games in the series, Fallout 3 has none of that going for it and instead relies on whether you could stomach the numerous bugs, boring gameplay and uninspired look/setting of Oblivion. Oblivion with guns and lots of brown is all that needs to be said to sum up my thoughts.
Spoon-fed stuff is more like WoW or DII where there is NO room for ambiguity. This is the skill tree. This is how the combat is. This is the story. If you like it, you'll love the game. If you don't, then you'll hate it.
If you're a powergamer, you'll love the latter because it gives you a straightforward gameplay system that you don't have to spend months trying to mess with. If you prefer to roleplay, then you'll want something more malleable.
That's what the debate will always come down to.
