I vote "Present" Executor, as I cannot endorse to abstain from a crucial advantage. If there was a suitable traitor, I would vote against him.

So there are several issues that have come up already during the course of this game, and have also come up during previous games, and they need to be addressed before the game falls apart.

1. TALKING ABOUT THE GAME IN PRIVATE. In regular party mafia, this is not only illegal, it's impossible. The mafia don't even communicate verbally with each other, they just point to a person to kill. ALL verbal communication is PUBLIC. That is the point of the game. The only secrets are the doctors', detectives', and mafias' own identities and decisions. Anything else can only be found out by public discourse. Now, in forum mafia, it is much easier to get around this rule. First of all, the mafia pretty much HAVE to communicate verbally and privately, since there is really no other easy way for them to choose targets. But this does enrich the game, since it allows for more strategy on the mafia's part. However, it is also possible for the townspeople to discuss things among themselves outside of the public forum, even revealing doctor/detective roles to only a few individuals. But if this goes too far, the entire point of the game is undermined. It's not secret-PM-wars, it's Mafia, the Game of Public Discourse.

So I need to come to a decision about what is appropriate for this game. I obviously can't prevent the non-Dark Templar from discussing things, but I can decide whether or not it ought to be acceptable. In the interest of preserving the spirit of the game, I would like to ask non-Dark Templar players not to communicate about the game outside of the public forum. To make this more balanced, I would also like the Dark Templar to keep their private discussions brief and to the point, and not to discuss strategy extensively. Again, I can't actually enforce these rules, but the game is much more fun when everyone (but the Dark Templar) has to do the thinking and puzzling on their own. Being paranoid is part of the game.

2. Abstaining. I believe that in normal mafia, there is no such thing as abstaining. Everyone MUST cast a vote. However, in normal mafia, a round often takes only half an hour or so. But in forum mafia, it takes several days at the very least. So if someone is randomly lynched on the first day with no evidence against them, they're out of the game for quite some time. True, this also applies to being killed by the mafia, but that can at least be a meaningful and deliberate decision rather than just HEY LETS LYNCH ZILLA.

The idea behind abstaining, then, is to let players stay in the game longer, and wait to lynch anyone until there is slightly more evidence. This is designed to help the villagers, since otherwise the mafia might effectively get an extra kill. It gives the detectives more time to investigate, and prevents innocents from dying pointlessly. HOWEVER, it can also be used to the advantage of the mafia, especially in a large game where there are multiple mafia. Lynching is the ONLY way to kill the mafia, and if there are enough mafia, they may be able to use abstaining as a way to overrule any motion against them. So abstaining is useful to the villagers early on, but useful to the mafia later on.

Another related issue is tying. If tying results in no one being lynched, it's the same as abstaining. This is, again, useful to the villagers early (to prevent the mafia from getting free kills) but useful to the mafia later (to neutralize any vote against them). That's why Arcan and others advocate a policy of lynching both players in the event of a tie. But this could ALSO be used to benefit the mafia as well as the villagers AAAAAA. So one possible solution might be to allow abstaining only in, say, the first two rounds. There is another possible solution, but it is not slated to appear until round 3. However, I could introduce it for round 2 instead. For now, however, I'm going to stick to the originally declared rules and see how they go. If there are serious issues, I will tweak them for the next rounds.

So for now, NO DISCUSSION OUTSIDE THE FORUM, and EN TARO ADUN.

The militia captain tallies the votes. As he announces that no one will be lynched today, a wave of relief sweeps over the crowd...but the relief is tempered by the realization that no dead Protoss means that the night killers have not yet been brought to justice. As night falls once more, the outpost of Eridun grows ever more apprehensive of the creeping darkness...

In my post i said NO ONE DIED because abstain won. Secret actions happen during the night, lynching happens during the day. Now it's the second night, so there has been one round of night and one of day, and no one died either time. When everyone has PMed me their stuff, day will come again and I will announce the latest news.

(DOUBLEPOST)

So after thinking some more and talking with a few people, I've decided that abstaining will only result in no lynch for the first day. That means in future votes, you can choose to abstain, but it will not count positively (much like what AA7 did this past day). The other rules that don't relate to abstaining will stay the same.

As the sun rises, its deep red glow washes over Eridun. Blood has been spilled this night.

Near one of the campsites, a scouting party discovered the body of Mucky...if it could be called a body. They only found...pieces.

The jungles of Aiur are littered with ancient temples, and though their original purposes are largely unknown, many Protoss still use them as places of gathering or meditation. As the townspeople were still gasping in shock at Mucky's death, a contingent of Protoss rushed back from a nearby temple to inform them that they had discovered the charred remains of Taeradun. Distraught and terrified, the villagers could only hold a meeting once again to determine the perpetrators of these unforgivable crimes...

What a sorrowful turn of events.  Mucky, Taeradun, your deaths won't be in vain.

Our list is now as this:

DEAD:
Mucky
Taeradun

INNOCENT:
Negi
Aekenon

SUSPECT:
Lavarinth
Shadowflare
Thalraxal
Frozty
AA7
Ricky
Mac

So, three out of the seven in the suspect list are indeed Dark Templar.  We need to lynch today, and lynch right.  The odds are still slightly in their favor, but we must deal with those wretched rogues' killing power before the day's end.

Does anyone have anything to say?  Let's get today's discussion started.

Also, MAC.
