Shadows of Amalur may be a good game, even if it's on the tailwind of Skyrim. I tried the 2 hour demo and the gameplay is Oblivion mechanics with a Dragon Age feel and a dollop of God of War quicktime gore events.
That's not a coincidence as the lead creator was the lead designer on Morrowind and Oblivion, but the best part is that the story came from R.A. Salvatore and the artwork is being done by Todd McFarlane of Spawn fame. The game has its flaws, especially the annoying crime mechanic in Oblivion, but it has some nice changes to make RPG combat more fluid.
