SC2 will end up being something most of them do when they aren't playing WoW and not replacing it and yes he is comparing an MMO to an RTS with that statement because they both have nothing to do with eachother beside coming from the same company.
Exactly what he means.
Half the people on my server that were PvPing made grand marshal in 2 months nothing special coming out of him, obviously he hasn't played enough to see what PvP was like outside of his closed in box called arenas.
hahaha, ranks don't mean anything anymore. It used to represent the amount of time you spent in PvP and the amount of honor you gain. WSG, AB, EotS, and AV are PvP battlegrounds, yes, but it's only one aspect of it. They each have their own objectives to complete in order to win. But if you want to get to the heart of it, PvP is just that: Player versus Player. No objectives to complete, no flags to run, no points to capture, no NPC's to assasinate. Arena is PvP. Player versus Player. Your team versus their team with some random terrain features in the way. I fail to see the point you're trying to illustrate by saying Arena is a closed box. Because that's exactly what it is. I'd love to try and understand though.
And RCX, yeah, you're right. It takes a lot of dedication to even think of competing in any kind of game. With WoW hitting 'mainstream' alongside counterstrike, DotA, GW, etc, there are people out there who could possibly make a living just by playing games.

Straight PvP was happening before arenas even existed including battlegrounds but obviously xel or anyone else here can't see that, try playing longer than 29 days.

What HKS is saying TPC is that Arena forces you into relatively close quarters and succeeding in arena is very dependent on your class, the pillars themselves don't do much besides ololLoS you, so arena PvP can come down to how well you abuse the environment. World PvP has many different strategies to it that aren't as effective or just don't work outright at all, which is why hunters are non existent in the arena teams, a lot of Hunter PvP strategies just don't plain work.

But eventually all SC2 players will return to WoW because WoW is a constantly evolving and changing world. SC2 will feature an expansion and that's it.

I like WoW. There, I said it.
Although I don't play nearly enough to interfere with my life. Which is great, because I've read and experienced what changes people go through when they get addicted to that game.
I've had the game for a little more than 3 months and I'm level 30.
A friend of mine got the game TWO WEEKS AGO and he's level 43. Of course, he's a total recluse and he'll start going through withdrawl if he doesn't play for a day...

My drenaei shaman was 60 a little less than 2 weeks after release. Completely legit leveling, no real twinking besides acquiring corpsemaker and the like. That was hardcore leveling.
It was all in vain, though.

So true same here, I have played it for 2 months and am at lvl 40, I sure do have a lvl 70 pally but I rarely play that anymore, i've killed Kel'Thuzad actually all bosses except Illidan. BUt i dont play to constantly to take up all my life, its fun but not totally addicitng to me, Diablo 2 is sorta addiciting to me online.
