Re: THE THING - GAME ONE (DAY FIVE)

Post by DrumsofWar »

AA7Dragoon has started to smell like pancakes.

Thalraxal has finished repairs on the radio and with it operational, is able to radio the closest base with biohazard containment to receive them and send their own team to check the science station.

Lavarinth takes a swig of his Grey Goose which makes him better at fighting at the loss of 1 HP and 1 Paranoia but decides to get some sleep instead.

Tramau also goes to get some sleep healing himself after a busy week of looking for stuff and sitting in a lab.

Mucky, the last person prowling the cold, comes inside and heals Flyinghat, which he does for 9 HP.

Flyinghat, now feeling better, goes to look for a second pistol now that his first only has one clip of ammunition left.  However, still crippled by his paranoia, spends more time looking behind his back than searching the base.  (6 - 3 Paranoia vs. DC of 6)

Meanwhile, outside, the now familiar sound of crackling bones and rending skin repeats again as The Thing engorges the dead corpse of the Dog Wrangler to sustain itself.

The sixth day has now begun, as rescue is only one day away...

___
Note: One of the pilots must make an "Escape" action which will be a dice roll against a DC of 6 to start up the chopper and get everyone out.  Anyone who wants to escape with that pilot will make a "GET ON DA CHOPPA" action which requires no dice roll assuming the pilot gets the helicopter off the ground.  If anyone on the chopper is The Thing, they can attack everyone at the same time with a +2 bonus to both forms but if anyone is left behind (and are not the Thing), they win the game automatically.

Thanks for your participation, guys.  I'll try to fine tune the paranoia and what the Thing can do while making things less complex if you all want a second game.

Oh, I see we don't actually need fuel.. Well then. Is the test tube actually done since it says it takes two turns, or was that a fluke?

Test tube takes one turn to make it simpler although I might change it back.  By the way, FlyingHat has 17 HP, not 20 HP since I forgot to take into account his "being old" defense penalty.

Now that FlyingHat is as healthy as an old guy can be, it's time to go back to my original task. And I've decided that my original task is too difficult because of paranoia modifiers, so Tramau, if you don't mind holding still...

Examine Tramau for traces of Thing.

Look, look... You've already tested our pilot, and I certainly know that thing out there isn't me!

I think there's only one person it could be... I accuse Thalraxal!

My test with Lavarinth was inconclusive. Just FYI.

Yet here I've been all along trying to be helpful, honesty, would you really suspect me? Because I was the first to speak up and say something. Look at Thalraxal, he's loaded with equipment to take us down immediately, if we get on that helicopter, we're done for. Trauma is obviously not the Thing as he created the vial we need to get out of here, and I'm not calling for backup with that Thing possibly being Thalraxal and getting us killed.

(I don't know what the procedure is to support Tramau in his accusation.)

I wonder what it is about exams that makes people so nervous. If you're not infected, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. I mean, it's not as if I've accused anyone.

I find it funny you suspect Thalraxal based on his armament, Lavarinth, considering that you're also quite armed with that shotgun. In fact, in addition to searching for that shotgun, you've spent this entire time looking for alcohol and getting drunk. Thalraxal, on the other hand, has gone out of his way to repair the radio that AA7 left unfinished. The circumstances here support Thalraxal's good intentions than they do yours. You appear rather aloof as to our situation. And it's only when I speak of examination that you raise your voice. Wouldn't you rather I'd been able to prove your innocence when I performed that exam, than for it to be inconclusive and thus warrant this conversation?

Tramau's reaction to my sudden exam seems rather odd. Again, this is not an accusation. I think those should be saved until we have more information. As it is, an accusation against Thalraxal is a rather baseless one.

I'm going to sleep. Way too jittery to even attempt a flight.
I suspect an epic climax, also lets find the Thing before we get our bums on the chopper.

You're sleeping? You're at full health and you're sleeping?

Seems Thalraxal's missing as well, I suppose for the time being I'll just search for a Grenade incase the need for one arises.

"If I were the Thing, why the heck did I repair the radio and help secure an early victory?  I woulda been procrastinating as much as possible with that thing.  Claiming I need more gear in case of Thing Attacks, drinkin' booze and passin' out.  Ya know, anything except actually repairing the radio."
