Compasses would work fine, just point the arrow south instead of north.

heh, I was thinking of those cheap ones where the cardinal directions are attached to the needle so that the whole face rotates.

What I always find funny are theories about the end of the world based on a date and it always got to be precise years or dates such as 1666, 2000 or some time based on another event or on an old story.

Odds are even if there would be a precise time, we got the calender and our theories wrong in terms of having the right time for whatever predicted catastrophe since it's likely it would be based on completely different and odd standards.

How about it happens on the 434888th quarter of a full moon (in terms of planet's existence) since after all, the "satan"'s real number could have been 888 and "god" could have be at its weakest point somehow at that time of the moon.

Really whats going to happen on December 21, 2012 the Mayan calender resets, you see its CIRCLE(if memory serves)

Actually- It ends, not resets.
