The old data was deleted with phase 2's patch.

They didn't want to eat a gb of space over changing the build time of some random unit.

The thing I don't understand is why they just decided to arbitrarily rename things in the editor. All of the things that were screwed up in my map with the new patch, they were simply because things weren't linked anymore, because some of them had different names.

Hearing about this makes me pleased I didn't go very far in modding for SC2. It DID mess up my vertical shooter somewhat, but not in a way that can't be fixed (the power-ups are not visible)Marco wrote:I always thought something might happen like this after release. Or during the transitions from Wings of Liberty to the other SC2 games. I'm surprised it is already happening in beta though. I really hope they stay on top of stuff like this. I really don't want to be spending a lot of time patching maps.Ricky_Honejasi wrote: 3) This patch screw up lots of map data made via the Data Editor making people very annoyed or just give up mapmaking. That's especially if weeks of work can suddenly go poof when Blizzard was supposed to keep a relative map compatibility inside the beta and into the release of SC2.

Whew, just thinking about the amount of custom units and such I'm going to use... it would definitely be problematic if things were to break in this manner. If it becomes a big problem however, there's nothing to do but power through.

Re: Join the Dominion!
It's a beta. Stuff like this changes. The only time I'd expect such a change to occur in release is in an expansion.
