Hi. In case you haven't noticed, I've made a locked, organized Video Guide thread, here.
Goatse
Use this thread to see my currently public videos.
I've also started a new series,
Legendary Loladin Challenge. If you'd like to discuss this series, or suggest possible games for it, here's the place to do so! Currently, only Heroes of Might and Magic 5 is on the list, but I intend to cover a few NES games as well, being Iron Tank and Sky Shark.
The goal if LLC is not speed running, but rather power gaming, demonstrating games, and just having fun. As the entire thing is commentated during play, you get to see me in my best, and worst, of states. My moodswings will make me a raving lunatic one hour, and completely solemn the next. There's no censorship going on - what you hear is what you hear, so if you're easily offended, you might want to steer clear.
If you'd like to suggest a game for me to play, please keep in mind the following criteria:
- It should be entertaining to observe and play. Heroes 5 is amusing because of the RMG, the ridiculous AI, and all of the other strange shit that happens. Starcraft is not amusing because everyone knows everything about starcraft and there really isn't any grounds for recording anything interesting.
- It should be easy to record. Emulators often emulate into DirectX and so fraps can record them, but ps2 emulators and stuff tend to lag and fraps is a motherfucker when it comes to CPU and HD usage, which will make their performance horrible even on my computer. Heroes 3 is not recordable. I can record most other games with either fraps or Guncam, but if it's an old game, it might not co-operate.
- It should be relatively easy to get into. HoMM5 games take forever but I can segment them and explain everything along the way. The game itself is fairly basic, easy to learn, but difficult to master. Extremely difficult mechanical games like Jane's Fleet Command with a lot of time-consuming nature and difficult to follow tactics don't make the best games to play or observe for this style of video.
- I don't have to have previously played the game but I tend to be pretty strict on what I'll consider for recording given the material needs to meet high standards of inanity.
Other game considerations I have. Would you like to see these games be played while commentated by someone like me, with no morals or standards against using offensive language to describe my mother?
- Nox, with Ricky in multiplayer
- Diablo 1 + Hellfire
- Unreal Tournament 3 campaign
Also, I have some questions I'd like viewers, or potential viewers, to answer. These will help me make future videos and video series to help expand my limited audience into hopefully something more profound.
A)
What should I do for distributing videos?
1 - Distribute H264 video which is smaller, but potentially more CPU intensive to view, and generally higher quality. You know a bit about codecs and you know how to view these.
2 - Xvid video which is considerably larger, quality is variable, but is easy to view and codec is more well-known. You'll probably be able to view these with just MPC.
3 - I should distribute both types of videos to provide the most options to viewers. The H264 videos will hold priority for uploads but Xvid versions will tend to follow.
B)
What video series did you like the most?
1 - Stabbyman, the legendary adventures of the monk who stabs people.
2 - XXE, the incredible quest for epic lulz
3 - I haven't watched any yet, but LLC has my interest
4 - The misc videos, such as Brawl, Left 4 dead, ect.
5 - Modding-related videos, the 3d animations, ect.
C)
Which kind of voice commentary do you enjoy the most?
1 - Your standard commentary; completely apeshit, informative, and highly enthusiastic.
2 - Your tame commentary; lower tone, softer, more sparodic and less energetic.
3 - I prefer no voice commentary.
4 - Mommy doesn't let me watch PG-14 movies with hard language.
D)
In the future, you'd like to see more...
1 - Shooters
2 - Strategy
3 - RPG's
4 - Don't care, just as long as it's amusing
5 - Don't care, just as long as it's easy to follow
6 - Whatever the hell you feel like.
E)
Does the concept of LLC interest you? I've read of people wanting to see runs through games, but not speed runs, which can be hard to follow.
1 - Depends on the game; I have a suggestion for a game
2 - Yes, your commentary makes it worth it.
3 - Yes, I have no life and lots of time to waste.
4 - Yes, I like to be introduced to games
5 - No, I'd prefer something similar to another series (name which one)
6 - No, I have another series idea (which should be given)
X)
Do you have any suggestions for future video ideas, series, or any further comments to make?
