Maybe my versions are just really, really old. I wouldn't be too surprised at this rate.

Flash should generally not be used for a website. I've never seen a site that used flash and thought it was better than just tried and true HTML.

First thing I did on the SC2 site was switch to HTML. That design is terrible. Though it didn't crash my browser (Opera ftw!).

Blizzard has officially released info for the Colossus.

Cool unit.  It is confirmed that their immense size makes them vulnerable to both anti-ground and anti-air defenses.  Nevertheless, they can attack on hills by easily taking the high ground to avoid ground melee units.

Hehe, their colossus html thing is giving me screenshots of the Phoenix.

edit - Damn, that jungle terrain is awesome. I can't wait to get started making remakes of all of my oldschool FFA maps in giant size.

Looking at those screenshots for a split second I was thinking "yay, this means having cliffs that change the elevation by 2 levels instead of just 1 are possible", but then I realised that was already possible in Warcraft III lol. But yeah, I hope it's possible to have cliffs that are like 3, 4 or 10 levels high without having to make "steps" that go up 2 levels at a time :P

(although a mega-high cliff could do silly things with the camera when panning around, but it's not like everyone's going to use them all the time everywhere)

Notice also the tanks in tank mode firing, and the marines without shields (according to a Blizzard rep the shields are a part of a marine upgrade).

I noticed that too Taeradun.  It looks like SC2 will evolve beyond two tiers of terrain.  Strategery to a whole new level.  This is going to make air transports and air units even more important.

Tanks look great when they aren't in siege, but look extremely fugly when in siege mode. I'm not a huge fan of shield bearing marines, but the terrain is awesome. Thats cool that both ground and air units can attack the colossus as well.

SC2 Q&A batch 4: http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.asp ... post196529
1)Are the yellow minerals shown in the trailers harvestable?

Yes, they will be a harvestable high yield resource, meaning each harvest rotation will result in greater mineral quantities than the standard blue minerals. This gives players more strategic choices when trying to evaluate where they wish to expand. Expand to the high yield but risk easier discovery? Or expand to a safer area but earn fewer resources?
='(

this is either gonna be a hit or miss. I'm not too fond of it.

edit: and the SC2 site is really pissing me off.

yeah i dunno it might turn out ok hopefully...

probably be a bunch of the default maps won't have yellow minerals... but b.net will likely be flooded from the day the game comes out with 100% yellow BGH maps :\

Actually, the yellow minerals will help me in designing my FFA maps. I can make certain regions extremely accessible but have rewards if you can control it. Big, open areas that pretty much any area can access. Since they aren't symmetrical, it should be amusing.
