Well, it is a fleet combat mod. There will be structures, missiles, and stations, but mostly ships.

It'd be a little difficult to consider anything that animates without knowing what tools will be worked with..

Well in wc3 their tools had their own particle system and that was about it iirc. Everything else ported it from max.

The Gryphon will function a bit like the Protoss Immortal. He has a shield that allows him to deflect a large amount of damage from a very powerful weapon, such as a Battleship's Quanta-Magna cannon. He also has an extremely deadly Dread Bolt cannon that functions in close range, making him the first Undead bomber specifically built to destroy heavier vessels.
Although the Gryphon model is very simple and low-poly due to the low classification (corvette) of the unit, the techniques used in its creation are paramount in my efforts to learn Maya and create Undead vessels. This is my very first UD ship in maya, and I plan to create more very soon.
Texturing and all that are of course placeholders. This is for my SC2 mod. If you're curious, this model is unoptimized and currently sitting at about 760 polygons.

Your skills in modeling are progressing quite rapidly (I'm comparing to classmates of mine).
would love to see some better renders of that ship.
Now all you need to do it learn how to make textures. >8D!

Today's update comes in the pair of relatively new additions to the MFTG universe.
The Undead LTX-224 Hydra

The hydra is a powerful medium corvette boasting both impressive durability, speed, and firepower. It utilizes a close-ranged weapon known as the Plasma Scythe Cannon, which launches a high-speed spinning energy glaive that is capable of bouncing off of multiple targets. This spinning bladed chunk of tofu gains strength for every enemy it hits, up to a maximum of 5. Any enemies that are destroyed by the glaive will explode, dealing even more aoe damage. This weapon is most effective against fighters, but is also formidable against other corvettes.
The Undead Artemes

The Artemes is another good example of absurd Undead engineering. Although it is smaller and less durable then an Alrashann, it is completely loaded with Plasma cannons that will utterly drown a target location in plasmafire. That is this ship's sole purpose in existence.

CC-exclusive preview of an upcoming Undead megaship - The
Fear.
Sprawling forth from the ancient carcass of a long-forgotten warship belonging to god knows who, this frightening machine is larger than most known megaship types and boasts immense medium-ranged firepower in the form of plasma cannons, sunburst cannons, and a special weapon called the Giga Ultra Mega Cannon. This weapon will discharge a massive plasma blast capable of vaporizing most vessels that it directly hits.
The Fear is extremely slow, but possesses the ability to fire while on the move with railguns and most of its smaller plasma weaponry. Its true strength, though, lays in the morale boost it provides to nearby Undead, and the sunburst cannons which can unleash a withering volley of destruction in a very short amount of time.
There is still much to do and fix with the model, especially the main section.

The last few ships with all the circle-like shapes, how many polies is that?

Hydra is about 1k polies, Artemes is about 2.5k, and the Fear is about 8k.
Unoptimized. Optimized, I expect all of them to drop about 25%.
