Re: The Epic Video Thread - Second Edition!
I youtube-ified one of my Starcraft videos.

/edit
I also uploaded some 2042 videos before but the project is dead now but maybe they will lol you anyways
www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/2042intro.avi
www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/2042chapter2.avi
The first video is a bit quiet but the other is louder. Be warned. The first video explains the game a bit and the second one is pretty lol in general.

Dear Hunter_Killers:
Yes, but that's only because English rarely follows its own rules and is a pain-in-the-ass language.
Dear IstaktuMesk:
I'd watch your first few videos if they weren't so big. Preserving visual quality is your concern, but not necessarily one for your audience. If anything, I'd prefer a choice between quality and size, so I can decide what suits my situation.

Well, I do believe quality is the first and foremost feature I should adhere to. For myself and most others I know, 1 gigabyte doesn't take very long to download. For those without such connections I just say let it download overnight.Hercanic wrote: Dear IstaktuMesk:

^ I tried a few weeks ago my dear Doack. However, I am missing software to view that .avi file. Could you upload XXE4.2 as a Youtube video like you did the others (lol anal probes? I'd take that over a saucy strap-on.

Oh God. With the extremely limited upload speed Youtube gives you, it'd take me well over a day to do that, babysitting it along the way.
I don't know about macs, but for pcs you need the xvid codec. I am unsure if mac players use codecs or not and if there is a respective mac-based xvid codec, but you'll need that (Or see if VLC player works on macs).

Re: The Epic Video Thread - Second Edition!
Update -
I'm nearly finished editing XXE 6.9. This will feature even more GTA4 footage, along with some Crysis, mostly revolving about the abuse of broken physics. In that knowledge, XXE 6.9's final segment will be of such epicness, such incredible amazing, that I dare say I will have a very hard time besting it.
Every XXE has delivered more and more inane footage, taking inanity to the next level. 6.9 is no exception and this action-packed mega video will have the grandest finale possible from GTA4.
Prepare yourselves. The future is grim, and the imperium of man may soon fall...

Re: The Epic Video Thread - Second Edition!
Xtreme Xtreme Edition 6.9
THE QUEST FOR EPIC LULZ
Size - 911mb
Length - 1:18 hours
Resolution - 720x480
Commentary - Audio + Text
XXE 6.9 features an audio commentary on top of the traditional text comments. Not only is it significantly smaller than the other videos, it takes advantage of AC-3 audio quality, and the interlacing issues present in the other videos are all but a memory.
XXE 6.9 takes you on an epic adventure to find epic lulz. With a momentary visit to crisis to warm the video up, we then return to GTA4 with HKS. The video leads up to a finalle that will shatter the boundaries of the universe forever, rewriting history stealing your closely-guarded virginity.
The entire video travels at a brisk pace and provides a variety of death-defying stunts, carnage, explosions, hilarious netcode bugs, and more.
Note - I did the voice commentary at 3am and was very tired, so it's pretty tame compared to my normal commentaries.
I had an intro partway done but lacked a sizable amount of footage I saw no immediate way of obtaining. Like Blizzard commonly does in game development, I didn't just cut corners, I sawed them right off, and scrapped the entire intro in favor of just getting the video up and done sometime in the same year.

Re: The Epic Video Thread - Second Edition!
HELLO GENTLEMEN
I'D LIKE TO HAVE A WORD WITH YOU
Okay, since I'm bored to death, I've been thinking about videos. I don't have any content to make videos with, anymore. We've pretty much exhausted GTA4 of lulz, except maybe for a huge Swingset compilation, and the XXE-style videos don't seem to be really garnering any attention.
So, I'm thinking of trying to make an old idea new.
As you've surely heard/seen, my MFTG universe, where ITAS derives from, is based on audio shows I did so far back I can't even remember when they began, but my earliest casette tape has to be from around 14 years ago. Almost a decade ago, when I got a computer, I obviously used it to create new audio shows, which I just called Webshows. "The Webshows" is a direct reference to the modernized MFTG audio shows, which Milldawg helped dramatize a bit with the "MFTG series" which bombed out due to lack of motivation.
It's been a long-standing desire to make video webshows, and a lot of ideas were tossed around about using a WoW private server and getting together some players to act as characters. This isn't completely off my radar but because of the lack of motivation of parties in mention and the previously unreliable server, we never really got the chance to make an attempt at it.
I'd like to remove the troublesome elements, and make a video webshow using Supreme Commander.
However, because of how this will need to be done, I'll have to execute the Audio and recording separate from each other. Like other pre-planned plans I had, this would mean I'd have to create a script before hand - something I've never done before. All of my webshows are on-the-spot scripted as I went, which is what gave them their incredibly inane nature.
But here I have the opportunity to do several things things.
1.) Take advantage of Supreme Commander's developer commands used to control multiple factions at a time.
2.) Take advantage of the fact Supreme Commander is a RTS; I can have a persistent world by just saving the game and reloading it for the next recording session when necessary.
3.) I can have large scale battles, sequences, and take advantage of Supreme Commander's moddability to create super units. I can probably convince Pheonix-IV to even model me some stuff or skin some of my stuff, because I know he'd love this idea and if I produce results it'd be a good motivator.
4.) I can use the Replay function to record from multiple angles.
5.) I can take advantage of my amateur Vegas video editing skills to wrap it all together nicely.
This has a number of difficult challenges, doubly difficult with my schizophrenia and killer mood swings:
1.) I'll have to write a script for every episode and operate the game in a way where I can easily get to specific points in a replay and know exactly what's going on to record them.
2.) Replays will probably need multiple record passes to generate the needed footage, which will take hours and hours of work.
3.) I have to voice act the webshow outside of the recording, making a challenging acting environment, as opposed to my old webshows, where I can act on-the-fly as I think it up and it's just much easier for me.
4.) I have to process it all into a video with music, effects, with every single supreme commander video recording, and there'd be hundreds, being unnamed, because I can't label videos as I record them with Fraps.
Some additional notes;
- Audio webshows averaged 30-40 minutes. These would probably be larger, per episode, as they'd encompass more activity. I'd probably make a very short "Primer" episode to get a grip on how this is going to work.
- Chances are the videos would be extremely high resolution. They would be fairly large size-wise, but I am going to investigate the formats used by Anime releases to discover secrets behind their microscopic filesize but very impressive quality.
- I may employ regulars from CC to do voices for characters. A French ship captain, anyone? These are people I know I can depend on, and will help expand my toaster of available voices.
- Because I can mod supreme commander, I can create my own weapons, units, buildings, and other things given time. I am still very new to SupCom modding and dropped it after ITASUS bombed, but Pheonix could probably help me with anything I needed.
- I can probably use a variety of models from mods already made to help bolster my resources.
- Post-processing videos allows me greater control over effects and things than straight recordings.
- I can put memes and inside jokes EVERYWHERE.
This is one of the things I've wanted to do for a very long time. The biggest problem of all is I have next to no focus now. The work load would probably be too much, and it'd kill my motivation. I haven't created a Webshow of any kind for over two years, because that part of me died a long time ago.
So, I'm not sure.
Would you be interested in a ridiculously offensive, cynical, satire humor video webshow involving huge ships, tanks, hicks, and explosions, with a story so inane and retarded that every time you watch it it turns you into a school girl?
