It was dynamic and thus more entertaining.

I didn't find it dynamic.. but I suppose it's okay for about 10% action.

Re: Probably the best SC fan video hands down
The CGI intro you posted, Iskatu, is interesting, but my vote would have to go to the video Desler posted.
The models in the Korean CGI are of considerably less quality, the special effects are passable but lacking, the animation on articulated models is stiff, and it's a mere 32 seconds long. The atmospheric effects were very nice, though, and the camera movements were dynamic and fast (perhaps too fast on some to hide what's lacking), but what was achieved in First Contact is far more impressive and satisfying.
First Contact told a story, it had convincing dialogue (yes, I think they did a fine job matching Tassadar, just listen to "Very well", it's spot-on), it even had limited character animation (Marine and Tassadar). Numerous effects were very well done, from the Carrier's engine glow, Yamato charge, Tassadar's holographic console, Supercarrier's superbeam, Recall, planet purifying beams (on planet and in space when they flicker off -- which I also love the fine detail of the swirling wisps of clouds), to the planetary mantle cracking. Great scenery, too, such as the star field + planet and planetary surface mountains + layered dust and atmosphere. Even the intro with the subtle camera jitter was a nice touch (other touches, like the Marine's music, were excellent). Only thing I really didn't like was the ending jibberish with SC Legacy's "deep" slogan.
Explosions were nice and convincing, but stock. The Battlecruisers were lovely in their detail, but the Carriers and Scouts seemed overly true to the lower-poly Starcraft cinematic models. Maybe it was just their dull lighting, but their faithful look threw me off from the otherwise high-quality look of everything else. The scene after the Recall showing the fleet could have been far more dynamic and interesting, instead of the few repeated flybys and an establishing shot of a static fleet evenly spaced out.

Amen. Although I don't think that Tassadar's voice was spot-on. The voice is totally different. They may have used similar voice effects, and the actor was obviously told to mimick Michael Gough, but he didn't pull it off. The "very well" part you're referring is indeed the closest he got to Tassadar's voice, but it was still way off.Hercanic wrote: The CGI intro you posted, Iskatu, is interesting, but my vote would have to go to the video Desler posted.

I also really wish they would remove that slogan, because it makes no sense. "All legends have a beginning..." Okay, I guess that could be true. "But a legacy lasts forever." BUT? How does that second clause contradict the first? Were they trying to point out the difference between legends and legacies? For what purpose? Did somebody ever say, "Hey that SCLegacy site, man, I wish they'd call it SCLegends!" and this is their way of explaining why the didn't do that?
Also, if it isn't Tassadar saying that, they shouldn't have given him the same voice/vocal effects as him.
As for the video itself, I've watched it again, and I'm still in awe.

Re: Probably the best SC fan video hands down
i must say that i thought the first one was better just because i felt like i was watching a movie trailer the entire way through. it just had that kind of feel to it and i love movie trailers. it might have been better if Tassadar said "zerg that must be purged" instead of "zerg that we must purge," but i do agree that some of his lines just didnt sound like something he would say. also, his head just didnt look right, imo. the second one was good, but those goliaths looked absolutely horendous. it was almost disgusting. that, and i always thought that the pro korean players wearing racing suits to their matches looked so silly.

Re: Probably the best SC fan video hands down
As I said, the video I posted only used a few CGI bits from korean animations. The battlecruisers look good in the other video because they aren't even his to begin with, they're ones SgtHK made a while ago. I didn't care much for the other models besides the marine which is pretty decent but very badly animated. The carriers don't even look like carriers to me, they're out of proportion and super shiny.
But that's just me. As I said, I don't care for it at all. You can keep trying to convince me otherwise, and you will keep failing.
thebrowncloud > Those koreans in racer suits are making more money today than you will in your entire life. The suits they wore back in 2000 were considerably more hilarious than these ones, as well.

$800 a day is a hell of a lot... actually that's more than I thought it was.
But then again, the GOM tournament has quite a large prize pool.

I love how when I post anything that doesn't coincide with the general consensus, it immediately stirs up this massive shitstorm.

I don't much care whether you like the trailer or not, but if you prefer the CG in the one you posted, I have serious doubts about your voice of authorityIskatuMesk wrote: But that's just me. Sodon > Some of it is hit and miss but some of it is a lot higher quality imho.
Anyways, when I said I liked that video as a fan video, I meant specifically as a fan video overall.

Re: Probably the best SC fan video hands down
thats not very nice..... *sob*thebrowncloud > Those koreans in racer suits are making more money today than you will in your entire life.
but honestly, i think the vast majority of us are forming our opinions of the trailer just based off of whether or not it looks pretty and has good audio to it. IskatuMesk is basing her opinion on a more critical standpoint and thats chill cause she knows her stuff about animation. but the rest of us are judging it like we see a preview at the movies. it looks cool and we say "Aw, that's gonna be sick!" cause it has appeal. the 2nd video was cool, but it didnt have the same feel to it as the 1st. it was just a bunch if snipits from a variety of scenes, while the 1st had a focus and mini story to portray
i could be wrong, but i feel thats why most of us prefer the 1st over the 2nd

Oh so you do know that Mesk is actually a fabulous woman. hehe...thebrowncloud wrote: ...her... ...she... ...her...
Edit:
The reason why i see nothing too special about the first vid is that even though it is a decent render the animation is really really simple. From "the best fan video hands down" i expect something more like this DR 2 Update (2nd half especially)
