I think it's more like terminators in DoW, where you train the units normally, then select the position they appear at. Either that, or more like the drop pod station, where the units are loaded like a bunker, then sent off to god knows where.

[ x]samu said on the Battle.net forums:
I just noticed a kind of cooldown delay on the Warp Gates after all of the units were deployed. Think of it like a Mercenary Camp from Warcraft 3. You buy them instantly, then there is a delay you have to wait to get another one.

That makes a lot more sense... So if you have 20 warp gates you can instantly get 20 zealots? Anywhere? That's pretty handy

No, I'm pretty sure you just train them, then they get queued up inside your gateways, which takes the normal amount of resources and time, but they just don't come out yet. Then you can choose to "warp" them in anywhere within your pylon range. Or within Phase Prism range, of course. Then they just warp into that position instead of just outside your Gateway.
I think that's probably right, because if it was only one per gateway or any kind of delay thing, then in the Gameplay Trailer, the player couldn't have deployed 12 Zealots so quickly, I mean unless he had 12 Gateways... which seems doubtful, and would make the whole "Warp In Anywhere Within Pylon Range" thing pretty stupid if you could only do a few at a time.
The point is, you still have to pay all the resources and time to produce the units, but you put them out at a position of your choosing, and all in bulk. It's really the same thing as setting a rally point and training a whole bunch of guys, but they all come at once.
Oh, and sorry about the essay, I just got carried away.

I don't think they get in a production que, i think they just start production right away, they all warp in pretty close, as in, the later warps dont wait for the first one to finish.
I think you click somewhere and it starts training them on that spot, no que, no pre-buiklding.

No, I'm pretty sure they get trained and stored first, then you just warp them in. You'll notice there're number next to the units in the gameplay video. Makes sense this way too.

I think Infiltrator is right on this, because if they were not "pretrained" then having them have no build time would be retarded, imagine late game you are in a protoss dudes main base and out of nowhere 4269 carriers popout

I checked this out on the video, when the stalkers are first brought in. Before the player does warp in, psi is 39/141, after they get 4 stalkers, it is 47/141, so the stalkers didn't exist before the played decided to warp them in. Once a stalker is warped in, its 41/141, then with each additional click, 2 is added to psi consumption. In addition, the time between the warp in completing is the time between each click, so the stalkers were warping in as soon as the ground was clicked.
There is no pre-training, there is build time, but there are no queues.
BTW, checking the video, immortals are 3 psi each, but the stalkers are only 2. If the second infantry unit the toss get to build is a stalker, and the terrans have the reapers as a second infantry, the game might have more emphasis on rushing. Interesting.

Here's a screenshot. He appears to have 16 Warp Gates selected. This is before he selects Zealots to warp in (hard to see, he selects Zealots very quickly). Note there is a stock of 16 Zealots, Stalkers and Immortals (due to the font it looks a bit like 10, but it's 16). After warping in all 16 Zealots, the stock for all 3 units drops to zero with a visible cooldown; it is likely the stock fills up more slowly for Immortals, and the stock is limited to 1 for each Warp Gate. Hence, to make 4269 units at once, you'd need 4269 structures.

But when he warped in the stalkers, he used only one gateway with 4 stock, didn't he?
EDIT
No, he uses four.
That's lame though, if you only get one a gateway. I thought it'd be cooler than that.

Personally I would have preferred it the other way. It'd be better. You build up a whole bunch of guys first then chuck them all out at once. It wouldn't be unbalanced because you still have to build them, but it'd be pretty much like using a rally point. But slightly more useful and powerful as you can put them anywhere within pylon range, like an expansion.

about the warp in queue thing...
I think it was only as fast as it was in the clip because they used an operation CWAL cheat or something.

Or it was a demo.

They admitted they tweaked certain things to show the demo off. Like the motherships energy and shields. I wouldn't read to much into it.
