Lulz at that terratron at the end! I actually really want them to keep that in the game. I could have some serious fun with that.
But the terrain and all the maps they made look FANTASTIC! I loved Bel'shir and Korhal especially. I've always wanted to be able to make missions in a city environment so my wish has finally been granted. The death animations were also really cool, but I would have liked to see more of the building death animations that they were talking about. Oh well....
The zerg redesigns were pretty cool. Definitely looked better than the old ones. Like, by far. But the only one of those that was really at all new was the brood lord. They had been working on all the other ones they showed for months now, so it's not exactly new....

I've seen the terrain features before. Extremely impressive. But if I can get to modify some things on it, like changing building styles and such, Duality can be far more improved.
However, I hope they have geared up the Galaxy Editor to accomodate some tools I think it'd be necessary for Duality to become a reality. All three of the episodes.

It still doesn't look like the Terratron actually attacks anything. Its beam just looks like its a part of the model and not an actual weapon as it doesn't actually hit anything or do any kind of damage. :\
I like the environments.

No he's just an animation sadly..IskatuMesk wrote: It still doesn't look like the Terratron actually attacks anything. Its beam just looks like its a part of the model and not an actual weapon as it doesn't actually hit anything or do any kind of damage. :\

However, it's great to know that the laser beams shot out by Colossi (proper?) actually only impact damage on targets when the laser directly hits the ground area where the unit is standing. In other words, if a unit dodges the laser animation, they dodge the damage, unlike in previous games.

Hey Meskie, could be a spark on that classic shooter concept you posted on modcrafters a while ago.Lavarinth wrote:No he's just an animation sadly..IskatuMesk wrote: It still doesn't look like the Terratron actually attacks anything. That must be a very recent change because in all previous renditions of the Colossus, the animation wasn't tied to the damage at all.Lavarinth wrote:No he's just an animation sadly..IskatuMesk wrote: It still doesn't look like the Terratron actually attacks anything. That's because the animation was still either the spray of lasers or the single laser. I'm talking specifically about the current lasers (two that cross).IskatuMesk wrote:That must be a very recent change because in all previous renditions of the Colossus, the animation wasn't tied to the damage at all.Lavarinth wrote:No he's just an animation sadly..IskatuMesk wrote: It still doesn't look like the Terratron actually attacks anything. Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
The animation was a sweeping laser. The damage was dealt before it actually started the animation, and then after an update the damage was dealt when the laser first fired, not as a sweep like the animation played.Lavarinth wrote:That's because the animation was still either the spray of lasers or the single laser. Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
So, by that logic, is it possible to create an actual sweeping laser? Like, one that extends out for a considerable distance and say sweeps around in a circle around the caster?

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
I think they changed it because they also doubled the damage. Colossi currently 1-shot marines, whereas before it was 2-shotting them. Makes sense to me.IskatuMesk wrote: So, by that logic, is it possible to create an actual sweeping laser? Awesome. Are the Colossi actually any good? I remember people were complaining about them being slow and useless.Lavarinth wrote:No he's just an animation sadly..IskatuMesk wrote: It still doesn't look like the Terratron actually attacks anything. But I'm sure when the game actually comes out, people will find all sorts of ways to use everything in ways we never thought of, just like with Starcraft itself. Who could have predicted a Shuttle dropping Zealots into a minefield to break a tank formation when we just looked at the units?

Stalker+Colossi+Phoenix combo is pretty much unstoppable if pulled off right.
