Yeah, I'm still not sure how much of this was luck of the draw.

What if it wasn't Lavarinth + Thalraxal?  Or Lavarinth + SK?

Maybe murdermaster should have tried to claim he was a Sorc, claimed he spied on Milldawg day 1, and saw innocent.

A lot of risk for the hellspawn, but also a lot of room for aggressive deceit.  But it would require a fair amount of foresight into how the game would play out, and still some luck at not getting picked off by an amazon.

I say we do a Starcraft themed Mafia next, unless we want to tweak the rules of this and have another go at it

Good game, guys.

I actually thought the Amazon role was overpowered. Being able to not only see who targeted my target, but also who my target targeted (tongue twister there) gave me an incredible amount of information. After only two nights, I had Milldawg pegged as scum for sure and had either Thal or Oopy as his accomplice. I think nerfing the role so it can only track or watch (or choose which one it does) will help even things out a bit.

Barbarian is actually a role that benefits scum a lot once there are fewer town people. Bashing a townsperson with less than five players left can be a huge disadvantage for the town. I'm not sure whether the role is useful for townspeople, though.

Paladin is straightforward doc, nothing needed there.

I don't think the Necromancer needs any improvement or nerfing, either.

Sorceress is kinda useless to scum, but really powerful for town. Maybe if you include a way for the Possessed to frame certain targets so the look guilty to a Sorceress, it might even things out for scum.

Fun game, overall. Thanks for running it, mAc, and creating it, Milldawg!

Also, this might be the first game that neither I nor Lav have attacked each other...

The Paladin is actually more than a doctor.  He neutralizes ANY ability targeting his choice.  So he can nullify investigations or bashes or decrepifies or inner sight as well.

Good game!  I'd be up for hosting another game if anyone's interested.

Regarding the Sorceress: I'd say it's a role beneficial to both sides until you get into a mass role claim.  After that, the Good Sorceresses become god-like and the Evil ones become nearly useless (except as a fake detective.  A fake real detective?  I dunno.).  At the very least, the sorceress' mere existance is a useful propaganda tool for the mafia (there's a reason why there's been so many fake detectives).

Regarding the Barbarian: It's easily the weakest class in the game, and comes across as more annoying than useful.

The random factor, while part of what makes this varient interesting, is also going to make it a pain to balance.  In this round, the heroes got a great line up (two Sorceresses, two Amazons, a Necromancer, a Paladin and a Barbarian), while the mafia got a merely okay one with their Necromancer.  If things had been assigned differently (say Team Goodguy had more Barbarians and fewer of any other role, or if Oopy had been a Paladin instead of a Barbarian) I think the game would have ended with a much different result.

I also think that the lower number of players hurt the game too.  If we'd had the planned 12+ I think things would have been a lot more fair for the Hellspawn (both due to them having a larger team and a larger crowd to hide in).

I wasn't really happy with the Barbarian class when I was creating the game, but I couldn't think of any other useful abilities. Does anyone have suggestions for a class ability that could be beneficial to both the town and the mafia?

Whirlwind - kills everyone in a straight line, but has a 10% chance of bugging out and following one guy around killing everything that he runs around.

Here's my 2 cents;

Battle Orders - Selecting up to two individuals, the Barbarian endows them with a fortifying war cry capable of increasing their life span.

Effect: When the Barbarian uses this ability on up to two players, any attempts by the mafia to kill either individuals will then be decided by a coin flip.  If the result is heads, the targeted player survives the assassination attempt.  If the result is tails, the assassination attempt succeeds and the targeted player dies.

Additional Notes:
-The Barbarian may not use this ability on himself.
-The Barbarian can only use this skill once per day.
-This effect lasts one night only.
-Even if a player survives an assassination attempt due to Battle Orders, the perpetrators behind the attack will not be revealed.
-The Barbarian must wear a Cap so that he looks like a bodybuilding grandma.

Thanks for the suggestion, but coin flipping in mafia is like coin flipping in aeronautics - not appropriate.

Oh, I could've sworn I read some settings in a previous mafia game that involved coin flipping.

Must've just been my eyes playing tricks on me I suppose.  :(

I'll play if another game is started.
