Except for the fact this is a bot.

Yo, so I went to edit a post and afterwards was presented with this.

The edit itself seems to have worked fine.
There seems to be a similar problem with the Profile pages.

EDIT: Based on what happened after I posted this, making a post gives a similar problem to the editing one.

It appears we were upgraded on the version of PHP.. I'm looking into how to resolve this.

This seems to happen random, without notification, a little often, no?

Well, I can't quite answer a rhetorical question ;)

I remember our last problems (and iirc the entire network went down) because they randomly updated php and we had no idea for a while.

For those of your curious, no- your posts aren't vanishing. I'm deleting them because I find them stupid and I'm tired of watching this place turn into a location for stupid jokes and posts with an IQ of 0 to 5. I'm doing it without warning, and whenever I feel the post is deemed ridiculous. If you don't like it, I can't apologize, as you failed to realize posting things at a rudimentary level of thinking wont prevent you from growing older, in the event your goal was infinite youth.

This forum has problems, and this year, I plan to clean it up.

There goes half my post count.

I'm glad for this, though. Not only will it encourage our small amount of members to spew less nonsense, it'll make me look at the 'new posts' button with more positive expectations. You know, instead of ArcCain's constant smilie posts.

Cheers, Lav.

You could start by finding Palin and letting him run wild on the shit posters.

Palin ran wild on any poster, he cannot be contained.

@ avoiding triviality in forums
Tuff setting a serious adult tone for a "gaming" site. Maybe add a shoutbox? There always seems to be something ppl need to express and this might be a way to alleviate a lot of the trivial posting.

There are times when members may have some simple question that might be easily answered in a shoutbox that doesn't warrant forum discussion or the need to create a post as well.

A site like this tho might have to set a tone for the shoutbox. While you'd want it to absorb some of the triviality of the forums, you wouldn't want it to get overrun w/ endless "kiddieness" banter with an open invitation such as shoutbox invariably will encourage.

A shoutbox has the potential to become too familiar and easy as well. Users might use it in place of the forums proper where discussion can be better archived and indexed.

But it might be something to explore... or has even been talked about.
