Start of thread:  Guy says he is serving into military.

End of thread:  I am a Harrison Ford android.

Conclusion:  Stop reading CC threads.

Required military service sucks. In my country it has been erased 5 years ago, all the better.

Agreed. I don't understand because in some countries we have to make the military service. Is it because these countries can't finance their own armies? :-\

Maybe. What they don't seem to understand is that it is better to have an army full of hired professionals who wants to make career in the military, not a bunch of young people who wants to get out as soon possible. Of course if there are not enough applicants or if there is a lack of money then these governments are forced to require military service from everyone.

Of course. The governments only care about having a large army in case a war erupts. Some governments do not care who dies while they win the war.

I know the US cares, if for nothing else, then at the very least for the reason that it costs XX amount of dollars to train a soldier.  I think it costs the air force something like around 1 million dollars to train a pilot.

If that were the case- I think any country would care. This pilot could literally say he's worth a million dollars.

In a way, serving in the military isn't so bad.  You'll probably handle millions of dollars worth of equipment and do things that would cost you like hundreds of thousands of dollars.  Like firing a missle from a carrier.  Those things costs like a 20 million a piece or something.  I mean, I just misaim and fire and I just blew 20 million dollars.  Awesome.

Haha- When my cousin was in the Navy that's all he talked about, how he could handle a bunch of items worth millions and break them and say "oops, there went your millions." He fired a turrent once on his ship, along with an automated machine gun.. He said the feeling of such power is the biggest "high" he's had.

Yeah, its almost enough to make me want to serve.  Actually, a battleship would be a nice place to serve.  Being out in the field with that constant threat of being wounded or worse would wrack my nerves too much.  You don't have to worry about that on a battleship until it goes on alert or whatever.

Or until PMCs are instated into the military and nanomachines are mandatory.
