500?! Like I said, last I heard, yea, seems the number did rise quite a bit.

At the VERY ABSOLUTE LEAST one of those was Arson. But it could also be a clusterfuck of bad luck

Over 1000 now, one in San Ysidro was arson by two high school kids most likely trying to take the day off since all other schools were shut down.

My neighborhood is back to voluntary but I'm staying over here with everything still packed. I should be back within a day or two, however I'm not sure how the fire is going. They started using air support like a fat kid finding cake, but the flames still go none-the-less. During the night, they're limited to being able to do almost nothing at all, at least the past two nights they have been unable to do anything but watch. We'll see what news comes tomorrow.

I recall firefighters complaining that some assholes weren't evacuating and everything was getting slowed down because of it. Can't help but wonder whether a few stubborn assholes caused some poor family's house to burn down.

Yikes.  Hope they get things under control there soon.

@Warbringer: In any disaster situation, you're always going to have some people who'll refuse to leave their homes, even if they and their house are on fire.

I've heard of only one case of a stubborn person who stayed and tried to fight the fire, then he gave up and left and they managed to save his house after all. Aside that, a backfire failed and caused the fire to spread into another city, they speculate homes damaged to be over 2000 now. Only 7 deaths reported so far, at least. We moved back into the house today, if I can find the cord for my cellphone (uses microUSB as opposed to miniUSB) I'll place some pictures up here. After tonight, everything on my end will be back to normal, hopefully. We're still on voluntary, but they think the fire threatening our area should be out within two days. Once again, however, they still are unable to do anything at night and must let the fires simple burn.

Thinking about it.

Fires still going, *rolls eyes* ... Found my cord after scavenging mass piles of junk from evacuation, I'll have a few pictures up after work. Seems now the larger threat down here is the chemical smoke from manufactured products being burnt in homes, the fires in my area are controlled (still active) but the ones up North are still going.

No. You'll stay far away from Canada if you know what's good for you.

Come to New Jersey. You'll suffocate in humidity and high taxes but at least you won't die in a fire.

Jersey sucks, fuck this place. Don't live here unless the rest of the world was on fire.

Lavarinth wrote: Incase I am offline- I had to evacuate my house. (Currently a fire is in temporary containment two miles from my house.)

More information can be found here, as Southern California faces the most severe fire damage ever witnessed:

http://www.cbs8.com/misc/fires_oct_07/maps.html
http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti ... 0/SPORTS01 (This evacuation number is already far greater than this)

Keep in touch. This should all be over within the next two days hopefully. Pictures soon.
I'm back, after seeing this thread
the reason is, my home country Lebanon is facing the same thing as California, the whole country is being burned down in the same was as California. Its just utterly horrible.....
I hope nothing happens to you mate.
so far nothing has happened to my old one in lebanon, so maybe thats a sign that your house won't be flamed.

Mantis: All those people in higher up North like in San Francisco. But I find 12 fires too coincidental.
Maybe terrorists have finally figured out that terrorism is easier than it seems.
wow...... thats exactly what my mom said yesterday....
