Think sidequests on WoW battlegrounds. Like demolish towers, kill certain units to perform certain results like spells or buffs, gather lumber, gather gold, etc.Grandma wrote:Flavor, but not pointless side-quests, more like "hm, you can increase OUR revenue, and decrease their revenue by doing this generic task!" and maybe, that generic task, once completed, would give you additional troops to push into an enemy base.Mantidz wrote: Also, what do you guys think about quests in AoS maps? Are they necessary, take away from the game play, or do they give it more flavor?

I really have no desire to go back to LoL, I put most of my more imaginative hero ideas into that crappy TS map I made, and bleh.

Always remember, people, that the ORIGINAL Aeon of Strife was inspired by Dynasty Warriors.

You know what would be fucking amazing? Stealing another idea from Dynasty Warriors;
Along with your hero, you can grab a couple bodyguards. Basically like 3-5 units that you can control, and are a little superior to the spawned guys.
It would add a little micro, and augment your hero. Like a melee hero could get a small support squad, or a ranged hero could grab some tanks to soak up damage, etc etc. Like I said, they would be insanely strong, just a little stronger then basic creeps.

Hello, mother leopard.
I have your cub.
You must protect her,
But that will be expensive...
10,000 kola nuts,
Wrapped in brown paper...
Midnight, behind the box
I'll be the hyena, you'll see.

In LoL I had partly added World Boss encounters, but not the system to respawn or upgrade their health. Basically, you could divert from the lanes with some group members and fight these bosses, and earn bonus cash/reputation for your team. The stronger the boss, the better the reward. Of course, you might have to contend with enemy players out for the same thing...

Re: What do you like/hate in an AoS map?
In my opinion, the best part of LoL was that, for the most part, every hero had a clearly defined role, and it was a viable strategy to go gank the spellcasters in the enemy creep wave. However, I really hated the neutral up-for-grabs cannons in the middle of lanes. One of the best parts of AotZ is that there aren't very many towers to contend with, and most of the combat is out in the open instead of one side hiding behind static defenses.

Sorry for my previous post, I meant more along the lines of what main features defined the Dynasty Warriors game.

Honestly I think it'd be better if it worked a lot more simplistic like Dynasty Warriors. Instead of actually controlling the units and giving them skills, just have the option to have them in front, besides, or behind you. Such as offensive, support, or defensive. Or attack a specific target.Grandma wrote: You know what would be fucking amazing? Stealing another idea from Dynasty Warriors;

Hmm, that would be pretty neat, although I was hoping for more micro-oriented battles you know?Lavarinth wrote: Honestly I think it'd be better if it worked a lot more simplistic like Dynasty Warriors. Oh and, here's another good thing about Dynasty Warriors that you could incorporate into your map; Captains. They could add a buff to your troops, and upon death give you a little power-up, and a buff. They could either be stationed at every group of towers, or they could just spawn every once and awhile and fight to the death.

Re: What do you like/hate in an AoS map?
The thing about AoS maps is you're supposed to control one person majority of the time. And buff upon death of a captain seems incorrect, more like negative buff for death. If a team is losing.. They should be losing.Grandma wrote:Hmm, that would be pretty neat, although I was hoping for more micro-oriented battles you know?Lavarinth wrote: Honestly I think it'd be better if it worked a lot more simplistic like Dynasty Warriors. Re: What do you like/hate in an AoS map?
One thing which the spinoff Samurai Warriors utilizes heavily is capturable Gates (the things that spawn units). I've hardly ever seen an AOS utilize this concept because of symmetrical issues.
Oh yeah, one thing AOS can do is get an asymmetrical map... oh but hell, that requires actually making the computer act not as stupid.

Another huge thing to point out is that +stat items should be avoided at all costs.
