Uh... If I'm spending over $30 on a product it better damn well last over 3 years.

Yes. But do you want it to?IskatuMesk wrote:Uh... If I'm spending over $30 on a product it better damn well last over 3 years.
Man, don't play dumb. Don't you replace your computers and whatnot? I'm sorry, judging from iPod sales, I think people really do want to do that.Mr. wrote:So wait, when you get an iPod, you're going to have to replace it in a few years when the new version of Flash Drive With Headphones™ comes out? People probably like their "shitty bricks" to last, because they don't want to buy the exact same product over and over again. Just a hunch.Legion wrote:As for the "durability" arguments... Who wants their shitty brick like a Creative or some other brandless Mp3 player (or haha, Zune) to last 3+ years anyway? iPods can last for years, but they're the kind of things you'll want to replace after 3-4 years. Don't want to spend your money on 'em? Fine, noboby's forcing you.
You're asking me if I want to spend needless amounts of money replacing something I should not need to replace. It's not comparable to a computer, it's an mp3 player, like a radio. No, I do not want to arbitrarily replace something just because a bulkier and more expensive version came out.Legion wrote:Yes. But do you want it to?IskatuMesk wrote:Uh... Then don't. I just said people do this and Apple's success is undeniable, whether you would stand in line for their products or not.IskatuMesk wrote:You're asking me if I want to spend needless amounts of money replacing something I should not need to replace. So, if people were smart, they'd, what? Assemble their own computers, purchase clunky machines that may or may not do the job. Spend as little money on as many gigabytes as they can - just so they can say they got the same amount of disk space FOR LESS? I don't know.IskatuMesk wrote:The only reason apple is successful is because people are stupid. But really, that's the only reason MS is successful (although they also capitalized on a potential market much like Blizzard did with WoW and had like-minded success).
Yeah, that's typically what they do. I've no forgiveness for people who buy prebuilt computers like Dell or Alienware. So, if people were smart, they'd, what? Assemble their own computers
Why is the iPod "the kind of thing you'll want to replace after 3-4 years"?Legion wrote:Funny how everyone says "other stuff" is better than Apple's every time Apple products come up.

People replace their computers because faster, more productive ones come along. How do you make a music playing device faster? Can you make it play more music into your ears faster? No. lol. Can you make it hold more music? Sure, but there hasn't really been a huge jump in MP3 player disk space lately.Legion wrote: Man, don't play dumb. Don't you replace your computers and whatnot? I didn't invent this system. I'd be making millions if I had... And like I said, nobody's forcing you. It's happening, whether you like it or not.
My original statement was that whenever Apple announces something, ANYTHING, there's always the same reaction. I guess I didn't have to, but I think I've proven it still works like that.
Why didn't you just buy each one of you an iPhone 4 with as much memory as you can get? If I was impressed by Apple, that's really the only product of theirs that I would bother with, these days. I don't consider anything else by them to be very competitive...Legion wrote: It's so much fun being stupid.
The difference between Apple fanboys (lol) and you guys is you feel the need to always prove you're right with your figures and your 'informed' opinions and comparisons. I've been saying that all along, so go ahead and enjoy.wibod wrote:ITT: Legion acts dumb.
Actually having used a random flash drive with headphones, a zune and a nano, the nano was easily the worst. itunes is a piece of shit, the thing liked to shut off in cold weather despite being a flash drive (lithium ion batteries shouldn't do this), no radio and stupid DRM basically killed any drive for me to purchase another one, then it died due to this http://www.bit-tech.net/news/bits/2007/ ... ista_fix/1 (obviously both companies fault)
zune>flash drive>ipod
I highly doubt legion has owned all three and therefore is unable to provide an informed opinion
your opinion would be worthwhile if it wasn't "OMG STEVE JOBS IN MY BUTT, M$ = DEVIL!!!!!111@"Legion wrote:The difference between Apple fanboys (lol) and you guys is you feel the need to always prove you're right with your figures and your 'informed' opinions and comparisons. That's just the Curch of Steve Jobs brainwashing you but don't worry its permanent, you won't have to back up your statements.Legion wrote:The difference between Apple fanboys (lol) and you guys is you feel the need to always prove you're right with your figures and your 'informed' opinions and comparisons.
