I add quite a lot of them and the map size doesn't increase much.

I do appreciate the suggestions, but... Trust me, for whatever my reasons may be, I do NOT want to extract the sounds to WAVs and then add them to my map.

I have now tried this on four computers, and it does not work on any. All are XP SP2 except for one which is 98SE. Unfortunately, there were so many problems (even after downloading new DLLs and OCXs) I couldn't even start the program in Win98. On the other two that are XP (excluding my original computer), the application gets the same error (error 53) immediately when trying to access sounds from any of the sources (bwinstall, scinstall, broodat, etc).

Well the nice thing about the MPQ's is that you can compress .wavs to about 1/4 of the size with virtually no loss in quality.

Although alright. Have you tried installing Visual Basic runtimes?

Visual Basic runtimes, getting to complicated for me, not that much of a computers person.  :-\
